Metallica Live CD and DVD Details |
The region free DVD's and CD's include songs from all three shows recorded on June 4, 6, and 7. Each show had a unique set list, totaling 34 different songs . . . they're all there on the two DVD set along with interviews with us. Other versions that will be available include one DVD (18 tracks), Blu-ray version of that DVD, a digi-pack with the DVD and two CD's, and finally the aforementioned deluxe version in a slip case with two DVD's and two CD's. In keeping with the local theme, all the credits will be in Spanish (Portuguese for our Brazilian buddies) and will only be available at stores in Latin America. Of course we will also have it in The Official Metallica.com Store, starting sometime the week of December 7.
Most areas of Latin America will have the DVD available on November 30, however if you live in Brazil, check your local music store on December 8 and for fans in Argentina and Chile, "Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico" hits the stores on December 10. All DVD's are region free and will play on any player worldwide.

Fall Out Boy, Anthrax and Everytime I Die Members Form New Group |
FOB's Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have teamed up with ETID's Keith Buckley and Anthrax's Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano in what could be one of rock's most unusual comings together in recent history!
The band came together through mutual friend David Karon, who will now also play bass in the band. And despite Scott Ian's initial reservations about meeting with Trohman, the pair hit it off immediately and found themselves jamming. Described by Scott as "Kyuss meeting Thin Lizzy", it's uncertain how long the project will take to come into fruition with day job commitments, but all parties are excited about the songs created.

Bon Jovi Nosedive From No 1 to No 19 |
So what does this mean? It's typical for established acts to have huge debuts and then drop, but considering Bon Jovi has tallied up three platinum records this decade alone, one would imagine they would have more staying power. Lost Highway debuted in 2007 with 292,000 copies sold. The drop from the LH sales to The Circle was 33% in a little over two-years, a dramatic downturn.
Back in 2007, all pre-sale tickets for all ten shows at their New Jersey Prudential Center shows included a download that counted towards first week sales. This time around, if you wanted to buy a pre-sale ticket, you had to buy the digital download ahead of time. One would think with an entire tour going on-sale versus ten shows that sales would have been up, but they weren't. What makes the drop more significant is that the album was $3.99 for the entire first week on Amazon. Not just the first day, but an entire week and it still couldn't crack the 200,000 mark.

Zeppelin Clapton Aerosmith Supergroup Just Hot Air |
They reported that Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin ) have joined Aerosmith's guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford in recording with engineer Kevin Shirley and selectively quoted Shirley. They posted a follow up article on Tuesday, "clarifying" the original report. Shirley wrote to Lemon Squeezings/LedZeppelinNews.com and said "all I said was I am recording a legend (and I have done plenty in the past), and this guy is seriously thrilling! The Page/Zep thing is not what it is. There is a supergroup -- there is a classic rock remix, but the speculation is all misguided."
So there you have it. This isn't a case like when Antiquiet.com broke the big news about the existence of Them Crooked Vultures. But the good news is that Shirley is working on a supergroup project, we'll just have to wait and see who ends up being involved in that one. Given who he has worked with in the past, it could be interesting.

Living Sacrifice Return |
The band's seventh full-length overall, and first since 2002's acclaimed Conceived In Fire, The Infinite Order finds the band returning to its thrash roots for an unapologetic reminder as to exactly why so many of today's heavy music leaders hold LIVING SACRIFICE and their legacy in such high esteem. "The music is fast, heavy and thrashy," singer and guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh said of the new album in an October interview with AOL Noisecreep. "We love metal and playing heavy music. We didn't wimp out at all."
Produced by Jeremiah Scott (DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, AS I LAY DYING), The Infinite Order finds LIVING SACRIFICE once again pushing the envelope of the metal genre, incorporating new dynamics and thrashier / more aggressive elements into a formula sure to appeal to fans of Conceived in Fire and The Hammering Process in particular, as well as the legions of younger fans who have grown up without LIVING SACRIFICE's direct influence, but rather the influence of the bands who have looked up to them - a long list that includes most of the biggest names in underground metal.

The unique collection arrives on the heels of the Oct. 20 release of LIEBE IST FR ALLE DA, the band's highest charting U.S. album to date (#13 on Billboard's Top 200, #1 on Billboard's Heavy Music Chart). Internationally, the German sextet enjoyed seven #1 debuts as well as numerous platinum and gold certifications upon release.
In keeping with the sexually-charged nature of LIEBE IST FR ALLE DA, Rammstein's video for the first single, "Pussy," made music history as the first major recording artist to create an adult-themed video. Singled Out: Kidneys (Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion/Tenacious D) |
"Christian Cheerleading" is a song about general relationship tensions in which one party is a bit more insane than the other. It relates to a feeling that I think every individual has experienced at one time or another, in the past or maybe in the future.
Due to the subject matter I wanted the beat and rhythm to be driving, so I choose a loopy ska rhythm against punk sounding guitars. I felt this combination worked in making the groove magnify exactly what the music and lyrics were trying to say.
Since I was a one man band in the studio, I approached the tracking by laying down guitars first as a reference point followed by the trap set and so on. One focus and challenge that I was up against was that I didn't want the music sounding like a drummer playing everything, so the feel was paramount. I had to wear a lot of hats in making this album, but I quickly learned that by listening back I became aware of when to shift more into band mode. Sonically, I wanted the song to sound tight-since it's spunky so the engineer made sure we had fancy compression to suck the world in.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
