Last August, Manson was charged with one
count of assault and battery and one count of disorderly conduct after
he rubbed his crotch against the head of a security guard he had placed
in a headlock. (see
story) Manson known for his outrageous stage antics assaulted the guard
during his performance at the DTE Energy Theater in Michigan during the
July 2001 Ozzfest stop.
Manson plead guilty to one count of assault
and battery and one count of disorderly conduct in Clarkston, Mich District
Court on Wednesday (6-19) and was fined $2000 for each charge.
Michigan authorities originally charged Manson with Criminal Sexual Misconduct, a felony that would have earned Manson a much steeper penalty but the charges were reduced as part of the plea bargain between Manson and the District Attorneys office. As a sex offender Manson would have faced possible jail time and been required to register with authorities as a convicted sexual offender if the original charges had been pursued.
Manson is facing a civil suit for a similar
incident that occurred in Minnesota. The security guard who was allegedly
assaulted in that incident is suing Manson for $75,000 claiming emotional
distress caused by the incident.
