Deftones' Chi Cheng Off Life Support |
However the family statement says just that, but is far more optimist than the posting that preceded it where things didn't look so good for the hard rocker. Chi went into a coma after a car crash in Santa Clara, CA. on November 4th, 2008.
The update on the benefit site was posted on Tuesday and reads in part, "hi all - just wanted to update everyone and let you know that chi was released from ICU over the weekend and is no longer on any sort of life support. his symptoms continue to improve. so keep the prayers coming.. they are obviously helping a great deal!"

Velvet Idol: Could Velvet Revolver Have Found Their Man on American Idol? |
Music Radar reports: all performed admirably but nobody seemed to truly hit it out of the ballpark until Adam Lambert, who had been previously coached by Slash to avoid ad-libbing in the upper register, came on and lit into an I'm-going-for-it version of the Led Zeppelin classic Whole Lotta Love.
Wonder if Slash asked Lambert to come on down for a Velvet Revolver audition? If he didn't, perhaps Jimmy Page might want to give him a ring. Stranger things have happened.

"[He is] one of the best kept secrets of the rock 'n' roll underground." 20 years ago, Dex's band, The Flat Duo Jets, were innovators, paving the way for contemporary guitar/drum duos like The Black Keys and The White Stripes.
The session was a long time coming. In an interview with Metromix, Sara Romweber (drummer, Dex Romweber Duo,) described the scene. "At one point, Dex was in the room with his guitar and Jack was behind the control board. Jack had the biggest smile on his face and he said, "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear that guitar tone in my studio."

Punk Legends X Working on New Songs |
"Exene (Cervenka) and I actually wrote a couple songs," singer-bassist John Doe, who also works with the X singer (his ex-wife) in the Knitters, tells Billboard.com. "There are two or three songs we're going to do sooner or later. We might get another X record at some point."
But Doe quickly adds that in today's download-happy musical climate, "What's the point? People don't really release records in a traditional sense, so if we do it we'll probably just put it on the web site and people can download it. Maybe we'll get (the songs) into a TV show or something."

Another Band Robbed On Tour |
The band, who is currently in the midst of their "Stimulus Package Tour," with labelmates Takeover UK, is not letting this minor setback deter them. Their show at Union Hall in Brooklyn will remain as scheduled, as is their extensive jaunt across the U.S. They'll join Von Iva later this month.
While the band is disheartened about the theft, they are hopeful they will be reunited with their gear. "It's always a cryin' shame when you walk up to your van or car and find out that some lost, sad person has broken in and taken the sweetness from your life," exclaimed Klingman. "My grandfather gave me a 1970's Fender P-Bass years ago when I was a wee lad. I don't care about the money... the sentimental value of the bass that was stolen last night will never be replaced."

Singled Out: Automatic Static |
"Hey Now" is one of those songs that uses a lot of metaphors to describe what I was feeling when I wrote the tune. I always like to keep people guessing just a little bit when I write lyrics because I think it's a fun thing to see what people interpret your music as and when you write lyrics that are too specific it ends up kind of giving it away and there is nothing left to be desired. I always loved bands like Sound Garden, Nirvana, and Helmet who use similar techniques when writing.
The song is basically about how it's too easy to be a "hater" and someone who puts down everything else that someone is doing usually with the thought of they can't do it themselves anyway. The song starts out with "Lock stock and loaded, I'm kind of feeling California, and you're looking mighty Oklahoma, so take your boots and beat it!" This basically saying that I am feeling good and you are just looking bad and therefore feeling bad and so get away from me. You may be miserable but that doesn't mean make my life sad as a result with you. The song goes on to talk about how my eyes overwhelmed me and how some times image can make you think something about something else that was never there to begin with. Looks can be deceiving so to speak.
