Bill Champlin Will Have No Place Left to Fall This Summer
PR reports: East Coast independent label DreamMakers Music will release Bill Champlin's No Place Left to Fall on August 4th. A founding member of the now legendary San Francisco band Sons of Champlin, and a masterful songwriter with two GRAMMY awards and six critically-acclaimed solo albums to his credit, Champlin has been called the best-known unknown singer in the world, a musician's musician, a full-tilt street poet. But fed up with the suits running the music business, he hadn't released a solo album in over 10 years, prompting many fans to ask, "Where have you been?"

This cult figure has been hiding in plain sight: playing in the band Chicago and singing some of its biggest hits, and all the while penning a remarkable collection of songs that showcase a decidedly different artistic sensibility. With No Place Left to Fall, Champlin has made the album he was born to make, a career-defining record with an honesty and immediacy that reflect his old-school approach to music. "It's not completely auto-tuned and processed like a lot of CDs are lately," observes Champlin. "It may not be dead-on perfect, but I think the dead-on perfect records are just that - dead."

No Place Left To Fall was recorded at The Barber Shop Studios in Hopatcong, NJ with a group of close friends - guitarist Bruce Gaitsch (Madonna), bassist George Hawkins, Jr. (John Fogerty) and drummer Billy Ward (B.B. King) - and produced by Champlin and Mark Eddinger, who also contributed on keyboards. The album kicks off in high gear with the first notes of Champlin's Hammond B3 organ on the fiery, funky "Total Control" followed by the bluesy, jammin' "Tuggin' on Your Sleeve," which features his wife Tamara Champlin (vocals) and their son, Will Champlin (vocals, Wurlitzer electric piano).

Rescue Me Actor Michael Lombardi Shows His Musical Side With Apache Stone
Plan A reports: Hard-rock upstart band Apache Stone will make a sustained multi-media splash over the course of the next several months, with a self-titled debut album completed, and a major continuing part in Rescue Me, one of television's most-admired series.

The founder, lead singer and chief songwriter of Apache Stone is the young actor Michael Lombardi, introduced to the public in 2004 as Mike Silletti, the "probie" newly-hired probational rookie in the firehouse of FX's multiple Emmy-nominated dramedy Rescue Me. In the new season of the show, just underway, APACHE STONE will be seen and heard through the year: Each of the band members have speaking roles in a plot arc tracing the formation of the group by the now-seasoned fireman Silletti, starting in the fifth episode. The band will perform two songs onstage in the last third of the show's 22-episode current run.

Lombardi explains that the series' writing team, headed by series creator and star Denis Leary, has often drawn story lines from the cast members' real lives, "and put a comic element, or a twist on them." Appropriately matched to the edgy, gut-level realism of the show, the two songs slated for the Rescue Me performances are the introspective and penetrating rockers "Synthetic Self" and "Social Outlaw."

Iggy Pop is King of the Dogs
EMI reports: "King of the Dogs," the lead single from Iggy Pop's forthcoming album Preliminaires, was released digitally on May 5 through all digital retailers including Amazon, iTunes and Rhapsody.

"King of the Dogs" was inspired by New Orleans style jazz, with an arrangement featuring trumpet, trombone and clarinet. "At one point, I just got sick of listening to idiot thugs with guitars banging out crappy music," says Iggy. "I've started listening to a lot of New Orleans-era, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton type of jazz."

Prliminaires, which will be released in the U.S. on EMI Music's Astralwerks label on June 2, was produced by Hal Cragin and inspired by French author Michel Houellebecq's 2005 novel The Possibility of an Island.

Since October Hitting The Road With Red
Adrenaline reports: Since October is currently prepping for an upcoming US tour, which features several dates with RED, as they continue to promote their latest album, This Is My Heart (Tooth & Nail).

In addition to their tour dates with Red, Since October also has a ton of other great shows coming up including WRZX's May Day (with Disturbed, Shinedown, and Saving Abel) and a string of dates in June with the other rising stars of Active Rock - Burn Halo, Veer Union & Halestorm.

Singer Ben Graham commented on the band's upcoming shows: "This is a really coolThis_Is_My_Heart_Coversmall time for our band with all these shows coming up, and we're extremely excited about the tour because we've got a bunch of east coast dates. We've played the west a lot, where we've been getting some great radio support, and it will be great to perform in front of crowds that haven't seen us before. We take pride in our live stuff, because we come off even harder and better live than on a record. We're not the kind of band that stands and sings. If you want to listen to the songs perfectly, stay home and listen to the records. If you want to see one energetic stage show, come out and see us!" - more on this story

. Rod Stewart - Unplugged and Seated
When people talk smack about Rod Stewart, its not because they hate him, but the opposite- deep down they truly love him. The truth is most people actually like Rod Stewart which is why they feel invested in his career choices (4 stars) - Read the full Rod Stewart - Unplugged and Seated review

. Ensoph - Rex Mundi X-ile
Catchy but crushing, metallic but melodic, this will be a love it or hate it affair for most. Should one take the plunge with an open-mind, however, this Venetian outfit offers pitch-black candy as sinister as it is sweet. - Read the full Ensoph - Rex Mundi X-ile review
