Cattle Decapitation Lose Member but Gain Tour with Soulfly and Prong |
Cattle Decapitation has been keeping busy throughout 2009 supporting what has been unanimously declared by press and fans as their best record, The Harvest Floor. This fall will be no exception. San Diego's finest death/grind torch bearers have just confirmed an October tour with legendary metal acts, Soulfly and Prong.
Travis Ryan comments, "We'll be hitting the road in late September with Soulfly, Prong and Mutiny Within for a US tour! Starting in our neck of the woods, the tour will lead us across the country, along the east coast and back home. We have a handful of dates already and there are more on the way! We here at Cattle Decapitation are all about diversity. So when we were asked to do the Soulfly/Prong tour we said "why not!?" I for one am very excited to see Prong. I've never seen them live and when I was in 7th and 8th grade they were one of my favorite bands! True, a very interesting lineup, but that's awesome as our last couple albums have proved we definitely like to switch things up to keep things interesting.

Eels Make Online Transmission |
Four of the recordings from the MySpace "Transmissions" session are re-records from the band's latest body of work titled HOMBRE LOBO, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan's "Girl From the North Country" and the song "My Beloved Monster" from the 1996 album Beautiful Freak.
EELS is the ever-changing project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett (aka E). The band's first record since 2005's critically acclaimed Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, HOMEBRE LOBO was recorded entirely at E's studio in Los Angeles with Koool G Murder (bass, keyboards and guitar) and Knuckles (drums and percussion). "I wanted to write a set of songs about desire," says E. "That dreadful, intense want that gets you into all sorts of situations that can change your life in big ways."

LoveHateHero Return with America Underwater |
At the end of 2008, LoveHateHero felt like it was time to step outside the boundaries they had created for themselves with their previous efforts. After building a solid fan base with their first two albums, Just Breathe and White Lies, which they had supported by touring nationally with such acts as Chiodos, Funeral for a Friend, and Scary Kids Scaring Kids, the band, despite all its hard work, felt like it had not quite hit its stride. Even after White Lies sold over 20,000 copies in the U.S. and drew the attention of magazines like Alternative Press and Outburn, something wasn't quite right and they knew it.
While writing songs for their newest release America Underwater, the band retooled their sound. The result was a record that focuses more on their well-developed vocal melodies and cleanly polished hooks. Nearly reinventing itself as a whole, the group dropped a lot of the edginess from its songs, using it sparingly instead of as a crutch to rest on. For this release, "maturing as songwriters" wasn't just a clich.
Despised Icon Announce Album and Tour |
All of you DI fanatics out there can rejoice as the band will be embarking on a massive North American headlining tour this fall with Through The Eyes of The Dead, ABACABB and Molotov Solution. This Lambgoat.com sponsored "Day of Mourning Tour" kicks off on Sept. 24th.
Alex Erian (vocals) further comments: "The 'Thrash and Burn' tour is almost halfway done already. Thanks to everyone that came out so far. The shows are huge. We'll be back on a massive headlining North American run in the fall with our new record in hand. We'll be sharing the stage with our homies in Through The Eyes Of The Dead, ABACABB and Molotov Solution. We haven't played with any of those dudes since 2007. Can't wait to meet up again and destroy a town near you! We'll be playing a bunch of cities that were skipped on 'Thrash and Burn' so come hang out.

Girlie Men Beware: Double The Austrian Death Machine Trouble Coming |
Double Brutal is packed with more "juice" than a professional athlete. Disc one features soon to be classics See You At The Party Richter, and Let Off Some Steam Bennett. Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold's take on them, including Metallica's Trapped Under Ice and Killing Is My Businessand Business Is Good by none other than Megadeth.
Austrian Death Machine guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: "Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I've been a busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called Double Brutal. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover."

The Dear & Departed Ink with Emo Friendly Label |
"EVR have always supported us and after constant frustration with other labels, we feel it's a great decision," expressed vocalist, Dan Smith (aka Dan Under). "That's all you can really ask for these days, honest support. We have all been fans of EVR bands since we were young and its nice to have that history and nostalgia with a label, even though so much has changed over the years."
In their short existence as a band, the Orange County transplants Smith (vocals), Darren Parkinson (guitar), Cortney Miner (guitar), and Jimmy Walsh (drums) have built a devoted following and boast quite a story. There have been many triumphs for The Dear & Departed, including sharing stages with Saosin, Norma Jean, Tiger Army, AFI and Avenged Sevenfold, as well as patronage from platinum bands (like AFI, who invited Smith to sing on 2007's Decemberunderground) and mutual respect from cult artists alike.
