Guns N' Roses Stalker Arrested
SleazeRoxx reports: The woman who's allegedly stalking Slash and Steven Adler found a clever way of recycling her restraining order -- cops say she wrote a bunch of crazy stuff on the back of the documents and mailed them to Adler's lawyer!

Lisa Jill-Martin Cahn was arrested on Monday by Oregon police for violating the order, after she allegedly scribbled a bunch of disturbing stuff of seven pages of the documents and mailed them off as separate letters to Attorney Eric Greenspan -- hoping they would land in Adler's lap.

In one of the letters, Cahn says she believes the restraining order is the musicians' way of communicating with her. In another, she refers to herself as Adler's "runaway kitty kat." The letters can easily be translated as a call for help, because she asks Adler's private investigator -- David Mancini -- to "come and get me ... I'm scared and sick ... I can't do this on my own and I'm really, really, really, really, really, really scared!" - more on this story

Top 100 Singers According to You
antiMusic reports: A few weeks back we put out a call to all Day in Rockers to submit their picks for their favorite singers and we are now happy to present you with the results. And what results they are! Some expected results but also some real surprises show just how diverse the rock community really is with the top 10 spanning decades but leaning towards harder rockers.

Think you can guess who came out as No. 1? Think again because some superstars like Bruce Springsteen and Bono from U2 made poor showings, just barely making the list. In fact, ''Weird Al'' Yankovic proved to be far more popular with Day in Rockers. Just shows you that trends be damned!

Another surprising result it how some replacement singers from legendary bands actually received more votes than their original singers. Dio bested Ozzy and Sammy Hagar topped David Lee Roth. - read the list

Guitar Legend Les Paul Dies
antiMusic reports: Very sad news to report. Guitar legend Les Paul died at the age of 94. It wouldn't be very presumptuous to say that without Paul's innovation music as we know it wouldn't exist as it does today. Gibson issued a fitting tribute to the legend:

One of the foremost influences on 20th century sound and responsible for the world's most famous guitar, the Les Paul model, Les Paul's prestigious career in music and invention spans from the 1930s to the present. Though he's indisputably one of America's most popular, influential, and accomplished electric guitarists, Les Paul is best known as an early innovator in the development of the solid body guitar. His groundbreaking design would become the template for Gibson's best-selling electric, the Les Paul model, introduced in 1952. Today, countless musical legends still consider Paul's iconic guitar unmatched in sound and prowess. Among Paul's most enduring contributions are those in the technological realm, including ingenious developments in multi-track recording, guitar effects, and the mechanics of sound in general.

Born Lester William Polsfuss in Waukesha, Wisconsin on June 9, 1915, Les Paul was already performing publicly as a honky-tonk guitarist by the age of 13. So clear was his calling that Paul dropped out of high school at 17 to play in Sunny Joe Wolverton's Radio Band in St. Louis. As Paul's mentor, Wolverton was the one to christen him with the stage name "Rhubarb Red," a moniker that would follow him to Chicago in 1934. There, Paul became a bona fide radio star, known as both hillbilly picker Rhubarb Red and Django Reinhardt-informed jazz guitarist Les Paul. His first recordings were done in 1936 on an acousticalone as Rhubarb Red, as well as backing blues singer Georgia White. The next year he formed his first trio, but by 1938 he'd moved to New York to begin his tenure on national radio with one of the more popular dance orchestras in the country, Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians.

Tinkering with electronics and guitar amplification since his youth, Les Paul began constructing his own electric guitar in the late '30s. Unhappy with the first generation of commercially available hollowbodies because of their thin tone, lack of sustain, and feedback problems, Paul opted to build an entirely new structure. "I was interested in proving that a vibration-free top was the way to go," he has said. "I even built a guitar out of a railroad rail to prove it. What I wanted was to amplify pure string vibration, without the resonance of the wood getting involved in the sound." With the good graces of Epiphone president Epi Stathopoulo, Paul used the Epiphone plant and machinery in 1941 to bring his vision to fruition. He affectionately dubbed the guitar "The Log." - more on this story

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Explains Stage Fall
antiMusic reports: Aerosmith's Steven Tyler issued a statement on Thursday about his shoulder breaking fall from the stage in Sturgis last week which led to the cancellation of the band's current tour with ZZ Top.

Here is what he had to say: A major thunderstorm had delayed the show for an hour, but after it passed through, the full moon and tens of thousands of my biker buddies were ready to rock! It was one of the best shows we've played in a long time! The band was slammin' and I was lovin' every minute of it!

And just as I'm thinking, 'It doesn't get any better than this'... FUSES BLOW! We have an COMPLETE AUDIO SOUND SYSTEM FAILURE! (You can even see one of the amps frying on YouTube.)

We were in the middle of 'Love In An Elevator', and the band slowly realized something was up. Well, I wasn't gonna go hide under the big top and play ROCK STAR and wait for everything to be fixed.

I wanted to go out to the crowd to continue the show... so, the Train Kept A- Rollin' and I ran out on the cat walk and grabbed my mic to finish the song. I was doing the Tyler shuffle and then I zigged when I should have zagged...AND I slipped, and as I live on the edge...I fell off the edge! - more on this story

Chester Bennington Discusses New Album
PR reports: Chester Bennington, lead singer for multi-platinum, two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park, has put the finishing touches on Out Of Ashes, the debut album from his new band Dead By Sunrise. The album is tentatively scheduled for a fall release through Warner Bros. Records (Oct. 13th).

The band, which is Bennington on vocals, guitarists Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (from Orgy/Julien-K), bassist Brandon Belsky, drummer Elias Anda (also from Julien-K), and keyboardist Anthony Valcic, recorded Out Of Ashes in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson (Motorhead, My Chemical Romance).

The songs on Out Of Ashes began to take shape during some downtime Linkin Park had before the band began recording their double-platinum 2007 album Minutes to Midnight. "I came up with a few songs that felt and sounded really good, but I knew they weren't right stylistically for Linkin Park," Bennington says. "They were darker and moodier than anything I'd come up with for the band. So I decided to work on them on my own rather than turn them over and have them transformed into Linkin Park tracks." - more on this story

Whitesnake's Coverdale Addresses Abrupt Tour Cancellation
BW&BK reports: In light of Whitesnake cancelling the rest of their US tour with Judas Priest, due to David Coverdale's severe vocal fold edema and left vocal fold vascular lesion, the frontman has issued the following update:

"Ahh... Good day, my Loves... I genuinely appreciate your care and concern, but, may I assure you all that I am now safely home and doing well... all I need to do is to rest my vocal cords for a couple of weeks. The really difficult thing is for me to shut the F up. I am not on any medication, other than room temp waters to stay hydrated. I have a list of do's and don'ts... and don't even think about it, mate!

"I'll be back to see the exceptionally good specialists in a couple of weeks. Until then, I would appreciate everyone not worrying... everything will be fine. I'm at my beautiful home, surrounded by all my books... all my big boy toys that will help keep me busy and distracted while I rest up. Mmm... my steam room... where I'll be spending lots of reflective time... an incredible Tahoe Summer that I will enjoy to the max, and of course, my favourite family in the whole wide world. Megadeth Frontman Retracts AC/DC Insult
antiMusic reports: Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has walked back some comments he made about rock legends AC/DC in a recent interview. Here is what he had to say according to Blabbermouth: "I just read the [Metal Hammer article where I talk] about Acca Dacca, and I am so disappointed in how I said what I said.

"No excuses; I didn't say what I was trying to say, and what I said is rude and childish. Not my style (well, at least not my style for the last decade or so, thank God), and I am even offended at what I said. I have never in thirty-plus years disrespected AC/DC one of my favorite bands in the whole world; I think I just got too comfortable and forgot that we were recording and I was being an ass.My apologies to my friends, especially Brian [Johnson]; that just did not come out right at all and I'm sorry, bro."

In the Metal Hammer article in question, Mustaine was quoted as saying the following about AC/DC and how Megadeth's live shows differ from those of the Anglo-Australian hard rock legends: "I love AC/DC and I've always been a fan of AC/DC. Bon Scott was my frontman. I love and respect Brian, but it's the same record. They've been making the same record for 20 years. I love 'em, but it's the same stuff, so you don't need to buy the record, just go to the concert." - He goes on from there

Noisy Arctic Monkey Talk
PR reports: British rockers Arctic Monkeys return with album number three, and sit down to talk desert inspirations, transatlantic living, and that sludgy new sound with John Norris, on Noisemakers on Noisevox.

At home they're unqualified superstars: not far behind Radiohead, Coldplay and Oasis in the running for honors as the UK's top band. In this country they've got a following that's more limited, but no less loyal and the Arctic Monkeys remain one of Britain's most exciting outfits, one that took a detour for their third full-length album, Humbug. Partly recorded in Joshua Tree, CA with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme on board, the record finds the boys in their heaviest place yet, channeling such stoner rock touchstones as Sabbath and Captain Beyond. That move was just one of the topics the oft-acerbic Monkeys discussed with John Norris for this week's edition of Noisemakers on Noisevox.

"I feel like there's something about this one, we all somehow feel it's more like 'ours' in a way," says front man Alex Turner about the record that includes the single "Crying Lightning" as well as the sludgy standout "Pretty Visitors" and the soaring Shadow Puppets-worthy "Secret Door". "Maybe it's just hindsight but before it felt like we were just always catching up with ourselves. There's more satisfaction this time."
