Four of the recordings from the MySpace "Transmissions" session are re-records from the band's latest body of work titled HOMBRE LOBO, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan's "Girl From the North Country" and the song "My Beloved Monster" from the 1996 album Beautiful Freak.
EELS is the ever-changing project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett (aka E). The band's first record since 2005's critically acclaimed Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, HOMEBRE LOBO was recorded entirely at E's studio in Los Angeles with Koool G Murder (bass, keyboards and guitar) and Knuckles (drums and percussion). "I wanted to write a set of songs about desire," says E. "That dreadful, intense want that gets you into all sorts of situations that can change your life in big ways."
EELS' "Transmissions" is now live at http://www.myspace.com/transmissions, and will allow all MySpace users to download free, stripped-back renditions of the songs performed and recorded during the session, including:
"In My Dreams"
"My Beloved Monster"
"That Look You Give That Guy"
"Girl From The North Country" - Bob Dylan cover
"Tremendous Dynamite"
The full "Transmissions" recording along with an additional sixth track, "The Longing" will be offered on limited pressed vinyl available September 1st through select retail stores and online. For more information, please visit the official EELS MySpace Music profile at: http://www.myspace.com/eels
