Paolo Nutini Goes Soph |
"Sunny Side Up" will be preceded by the first single, "Candy," which is due to impact at Triple A radio outlets nationwide in mid-April. Nutini and his band, The Vipers, will herald the album's arrival with a live performance at the upcoming Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, set for Saturday, April 18th. In addition, Paolo has slated a number of other April dates, including a free show at San Diego's Del Mar Plaza on April 19th.
Joining Paolo Nutini on the upcoming schedule will be fellow Atlantic Recording artist Serena Ryder.. A full-scale North American tour will be announced shortly.

Collin Raye Offers Operation Kids Charity Download |
After making the donation online, fans will be directed to click through to a special page where they will be able to download the track before it is available anywhere else. "She's With Me" was recorded for Raye's forthcoming album, Never Going Back (released April 28th on Time Life), and is an intensely personal, poignant song of unconditional love written by Raye for his severely neurologically ill granddaughter. This free download offer will run through May 10th.

Operation Kids seeks to measurably improve the lives of children by identifying charities and programs most effectively addressing key issues.

As mastermind Bruce Lamont explains: "The songs we are working have some breathing room so to speak. I don't think we will nail down exactly where things will go or how long a said part will be played until we record.
"With that in mind, I think the course of action will be to record live in the studio with a minimal amount of overdubs to keep the spontaneity things."

Pedal steel, accordion, vibes and strings augment the sound and call to mind some of the vast Australian landscape that influenced the songwriting on their album Bad Advice, with "15 Below" opening the collection with the unmistakable yearning that weaves throughout.
Marvelann began in Portland, Oregon around 1999. It was put together by Simon Honisett who moved to the US from Australia in 1998. Simon had previously been in a band called Sea Stories who put out 2 albums on IRS records in the early 90s.

Gliss and Takeover UK Team Up for Stimulus Package Tour |
The co-dubbed bill will offer budget friendly priced shows to all corners of the U.S. in support of Gliss' sophomore LP, Devotion Implosion, due April 7 on Rydkodisc/Cordless Recordings.
In the midst of the tour, the trio will perform on Seattle's KEXP, where their album was just added into rotation. Following this jaunt and a quick rest, the band will open a series of shows for electro soul-punk ladies Von Iva.

"Inner Portrait" was produced by Victor Little, long-time Santana bassist and rhythm guitarist, Myron Dove, and multi-faceted producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist, Randy Emata, who has performed, collaborated, written and/or recorded with Lou Reed, Bob Weir, Aaron Neville, and Chaka Khan.

Drum aces Jon Wurster (Superchunk, Son Volt, the Mountain Goats) and Logan Matheny (Roman Candle, The Rosebuds) and percussionist Gary Greene (Hootie and the Blowfish, Big Head Todd) bring power to tracks such as "Some of the Parts" and "Widescreen World," and the dB's' rhythm section Gene Holder (bass) and Will Rigby (drums) join in on the atmospheric "Santa Monica."
The acoustic side of the duo, reminiscent of their 1992 Rhino/RNA album Mavericks, comes to the fore on tracks such as "Long Time Coming," one of several that feature Greg Readling (Chatham County Line, Tift Merritt) on pedal steel. The lead track, "My Friend the Sun," is a cover of a classic from the legendary British prog-pop band Family.

Free Susumu Yokota |
Yokota has been releasing music since 1992, originally recording music with a more techno inspired feel, as time passed he's developed a more ambient/abstract sound. This experimentation has been championed by Brian Eno, Philip Glass and Thom Yorke among others.
Over a decade later, Yokota continues to push his music in new directions with Mother, enlisting a variety of vocalists, including Caroline Ross, Rothko, Caspe Clausen (Efterklang), The Chap, Nancy Elizabeth and Anna Bronsted (Our Broken Garden) to help create one of his most versatile records to date. Yokota explains, "I asked artists who I respect to collaborate with me to widen my own expression."

Golden Triangle Win Some GZA Dickies |
GZA, No Age, and Brooklyn Vegan were all unanimous in their decision to award Golden Triangle the $10k grand prize - Bay Area's Ferocious few was awarded second place with a $3,000 Dickies shopping spree, while Facts on File from LA followed in a close third place for the $2,000 shopping spree.
Over 1000 people attended the Dickies Battle and had the pleasure of witnessing the spontaneous collaboration for the first time between GZA and Atlanta's Black Lips. Relying on nothing but respect for one another's craft, they performed a few GZA songs together and jumped into the Black Lips chamber with GZA rapping over one of their songs .
