Metal Gangs Riot |
Violent riots had erupted between two of the town's largest gangs and for a moment it looked like the Australian Army (because there really is such a thing) was going to have to be brought in to settle the fighting. But what really blew us away was that the town, which is named Wadeye (pronounced "Wad-air"), was split up into gangs named after heavy metal bands.
There were the Judas Priest Boys, the Evil Warriors, and the Slayer Mob. We immediately dropped everything else we were working on and embarked north from Melbourne to Wadeye to see it for ourselves. Nothing could have prepared us for what we found.
Korn on Hold |
Frontman Jonathan Davis has assured Korn fans that they will not have to worry about the band splitting up or being away for too long.
Jonathan Davis states: "We've been going fifteen years and we need to just chill out for awhile. And you know me, I got to keep playing, I got to keep writing music so I don't go crazy, so I decided it would be a perfect time to do this. It's not like a hiatus or anything, we're still all good, it's just when everybody's ready, we'll get back together and go do it. We just need to recharge our batteries and get hungry again."

Dog Fashion Disco Reunite for Release Party |
Formed in 1999 by vocalist Todd Smith and keyboardist Jeff Siegel, Dog Fashion quickly rose to the top of the underground with the release of their 2001 Spitfire Records debut, Anarchists of Good Taste. The album was quickly praised by critics and fans alike for its quirky Faith No More musical fusion that drew influences from Clutch to Tool. The band's sophomore effort, Committed To A Bright Future, followed in 2003 and helped them develop a loyal underground following of fans (dubbed the "mushroom cult").
The group also earned the respect of musical contemporaries Serj Tankian of System of a Down (who made a guest appearance on Anarchists of Good Taste), Mushroomhead and American Head Charge.

Earth Crisis Get Inked |
Earth Crisis have crafted their most angst ridden and unrelenting offering of their career and this effort is going to serve as a much needed wake up call to the masses. The group will self produce the album and are set to begin tracking next month. The acclaimed Tue Madsen (Sick Of It All, Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted) will handle mixing and mastering duties.
Scott Crouse (guitar) further comments: "We are very excited to begin tracking our new record and even more excited that it will be released by Century Media. We have been working hard over the last year preparing new material and are scheduled to enter the studio in October. We will be producing this one ourselves and are extremely excited to have Tue Madsen mixing! The new songs are brutal and Century Media is the perfect label to handle them."

David Gilmour Live In Gdansk Out This Month |
The double live album David Gilmour Live In Gdańsk, produced by David Gilmour and Phil Manzanera, features the Gdansk concert and demonstrates a musician and his band playing at the very peak of their musical brilliance. The six piece band is accompanied for the only time on the On An Island tour by an orchestra: the 40-strong string section of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic conducted by Zbigniew Preisner, orchestral arranger on David Gilmour's On An Island album (multi-platinum around the world, number 1 in Europe, number 1 in the UK and number 6 in the U.S.). It is the first ever live recording with an orchestra of Pink Floyd's 'High Hopes' and 'A Great Day For Freedom', the latter performed here as a one-off for this special Solidarity anniversary.
The two and a half hour DVD which accompanies the live album evocatively portrays the drama of the Gdansk concert, set against the urban landscape of the shipyard and crane-filled skyline. As well as 113 minutes of concert footage, The DVD includes a riveting 36-minute documentary which includes Gilmour's private meeting with former President Lech Walesa, chats with the band and crew, concert rehearsals and a moving wreath-laying with Walesa at the Memorial to the shipyard workers killed in the 1970 uprising.

Wu Tang Clan Live DVD |
Within seconds, the silence was shattered with a sound this grand stage had hardly ever heard. Sadly, original member Ol' Dirty Bastard (1968-2004) did not live long enough to triumph with his mates on this historic moment for both the band and for the state of hiphop music. But, other talented rappers and DJs did, indeed, get to exult in the 2008 moment: Cappadonna, Streetlife and DJ Mathematics were all on hand to add their personal touches to an already toxic brew. It proved to be a rare gathering of the Clan.
This assemblage, and the chaos it engendered, will be released when Eagle Eye Media unleashes on October 7 Wu Tang Clan Live At Montreux 2007.

Brian Head Welch (ex-Korn) Week: Day 4 |
"Save Me From Myself": I did Crystal Meth everyday for two years. The drug was eating me alive and I believe I would have been dead if I kept using. You can hear a taste of some of the stuff I did in Korn as well as some new trippy sounds.
We know you are anxious to hear what Head's new music sounds like, so you can grab previews from "Save Me From Myself," learn more about the album and Head's new autobiography and more right
