Van Halen Vs Zakk Wylde |
"The last of the four secret rehearsals by VAN HALEN took place last night [Sunday, September 16] in Los Angeles. Unlike the other shows where 40-50 people were there, this was a much bigger affair with about 500 friends of the crew and band. Some of the people in attendance were Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE) METALLICA's Kirk Hammett and Zakk Wylde. About two songs into the show, Zakk who was front row tried to get onstage with Eddie [Van Halen].
The security were wrestling to pull him off and David Lee Roth came over and said, 'Nah, nah, nah. Are you in show biz? Then get off the stage. Get off the f***ing stage.' At that point Eddie came over and acknowledged Zakk, saying something to the effect of, 'Hey, man, I can't do this right now.' Throughout the show though Eddie was smiling at Zakk."- Some short comments on the performance and a video of the incident
NIN Disbanding |
"At this point, I want to switch things around a bit," he said. "Nine Inch Nails as a rock band configuration, we've done it and we've done it again. I see other ways I can present the material in concert, more challenging, something new. I don't want it to go stale."
"This group has toured together for two years", he said. "It's a well-rounded concert, a good collection of songs from different records."- more on this story
FBI Investigate K Fed Murder Threat |
Sorry for all the Britney news but this stuff is just too fun to pass up. In this case, word came out during the K Fed Britney legal battle royal over the custody of their children. Contact music reports that "LAPD spokesman Lee Sands has confirmed agents investigated a possible contract hit on Federline and passed the information on to police department detectives... Sands confirms the LAPD opened an investigation in June (07) regarding the incident. He adds, 'Detectives found nothing to substantiate the allegations. The case is closed at this time'" Damn.
That wasn't only news in Britney land on Monday, first her lawyer in the custody battle quit and it seems that her manager has had enough and dropped the pop star, while she reportedly lost custody of her children and got 86ed from a L.A. hotspot for her latest public meltdown.- more on that stuff here
Manilow Refuses to Defend His Views |
Manilow wears his unwillingness or inability to defend his politics as a badge of honor. "I had made a request that I be interviewed by Joy, Barbara or Whoopi, but not Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request so I bowed out," he writes on his Web site. "It's really too bad because I've always been a big supporter of the show, but I cannot compromise my beliefs."
Those co-hosts have never backed down from defending their views, which are similar to Manilow's, but somehow Barry seems to think arguing for his beliefs is somehow a compromise when he's really doing a disservice to those beliefs. So much for standing up for what you believe in, which is a real problem with American politics in the current age where people at the extremes of both political parties are quick to spout their views but refuse to honestly debate or defend them.
A source close to "The View" told Reuters "we canceled him," because producers refused to comply with Manilow's "completely disrespectful" demands. Apparently this wasn't a big issue for Barry when he appeared on the show twice in the past year alongside the fearsome Elisabeth. - You can read more about this here

Fiddy Pulls Tour, Accuses Kanye of Cheating |
The BBC reports that 50 Cent has "temporarily postponed" his European appearances after Kanye West topped the UK charts on Sunday, and is expected to claim the number one CD in the US later this week. A spokeswoman for 50 Cent refused to comment to the BBC on his retirement plans. She said that "unforeseen circumstances" had led to the temporary postponement of his tour.
Now that his 15 minutes of fame are quickly ticking away, Half a Buck just can't believe that his popularity is slipping. He is now trying to blame Kanye West's label of somehow rigging the sales numbers this week. "He's never had a fraction of the sales 50 Cent has," Fiddy whined this week according Uncut.co.uk. "They could have one scan and have it count four times. West's entire career hasn't sold half what I sold on my first album." - final thoughts
Madonna to Bring Peace To The World |
Doesn't seem likely does it? But you have to love pop stars that want to change the world. Gigwise had the fun story: Madonna has been involved in peace talks with Israeli President Shimon Peres whilst on a visit to the Holy Land to welcome in the Jewish New Year.
On top of exchanging gifts with Peres the aging singer attended a Jewish mysticism conference and has faced criticism from some Rabbis who frown upon non Jewish celebrities becoming involved in Kabbalah. A spokeswoman for the President said: "The pop star pledged to use her songs to promote peace, and the two toasted the Jewish New Year."- more on this story
