Roadie
Vs Terrorists |
antiMusic reports: A former roadie for Motorhead
tried to stop the July 7th terrorist attack against London, or at least
warn police about two radical Muslims that helped carry out the attack.
Martin Gilbertson worked as a computer technician for individuals involved
with an Islamic bookshop and youth center Beeston, West Yorkshire. He told
the Guardian that he met two of the terrorist involved in the attack, Mohammed
Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, at a party held to celebrate the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S..
Gilbertson went to work for the group helping
produce DVDs and encrypting email, according to an AP report. "I was alarmed
and disgusted by what I heard, but I kept my views to myself and they were
friendly," Gilbertson said. "They needed my skills, and I was perceived
to be anti-government."
However, by October 2003 he said he became
so alarmed by "what was going on around [him, that he] went to the police."
He was instructed to mail police the material he had collected and the
list of names, which he did, but he didn't hear back from police until
he contacted them again after the July 7th attack on London. [see full

Axl
Arrested |
antiMusic reports: Guns N' Roses hasn't truly
returned until someone get arrested and leave it to frontman Axl Rose to
make it official. In a bizarre story coming out of Sweden, Rose was arrested
for violent conduct, damaging a hotel room and threatening police. Damaged
hotel rooms are nothing new in rock n roll but the strangeness comes from
reports that Axl bit a security guard in the leg.
The fun and games took place at the Berns
Hotel in Stockholm following the Guns N' Roses concert at the Globe Arena
on Monday night. Stockholm Police Department spokesperson told MTV News
that the trouble began when Rose got into an altercation with a woman at
the hotel's bar and when a security guard stepped in, Rose attacked him.
"He bit him on the leg and then the hotel staff called the police and we
came and apprehended him," Hagg said.
Police arrested Rose and placed him in
a jail cell to sober up before questioning him. He does face possible jail
time; especially for the charge of threatening a police officer (details
about that charge were not available at press time).
Billboard is reporting that Rose was released
from jail Tuesday evening, after he admitted to the charges and agreed
to pay a fine of $5,500 and $1,360 in damages to the security guard. -

Deluxe
Sublime |
PR reports: Anyone familiar with the explosion
of alternative rock in the 1990s knows one of the greatest injustices of
the period was that Sublime singer-songwriter-guitarist Bradley Nowell
did not live to see the release and massive success of Sublime. The Long
Beach trio's major-label debut, Sublime, spawned the Top 5 Modern Rock
hits "What I Got," "Wrong Way" and "Santeria" and the Top 30 "Doin' Time,"
and went on to sell more than five million copies in the U.S. alone. To
celebrate the 10th anniversary of the self titled Sublime and to pay tribute
to Nowell's original vision, is the two disc Sublime Deluxe Edition (Geffen/UMe/Gasoline
Alley/Skunk) released on August 15, 2006. The digitally remastered Deluxe
Edition includes, for the first time ever, the original unreleased version
of "Doin' Time" in its rightful place with Nowell's original vocal track
fully restored. The Deluxe Edition also contains 15 bonus tracks, 8 previously
unreleased, plus remixes and videos.
Disc One of the Deluxe Edition restores
the self-titled Sublime to its original intended sequence as Nowell had
created at famed LA mastering studio, Bernie Grundman's. The disc includes
both Nowell's initial opener, the Bob Marley cover of "Trenchtown Rock,"
and the original version of "Doin' Time", the band's interpretation of
George and Ira Gershwin's American standard "Summertime". [see full story

Naked
Britney |
antiMusic reports: Taking a page out of Demi
Moore's playbook, pregnant pop star Britney Spears has appeared nude in
the pages of a magazine. In the August issue of Harper's Bazaar Spears
appears in several layouts as well as the cover in the nude, using creative
angles and her arms to cover up her famous chest.
The pictures come as a surprise and finally
fulfils the longtime wishes of some Britney watchers. Some that do not
have a pregnant fetish may be a bit disappointed in the photos of the former
blond bombshell, now sporting dark hair and a big belly.
If you want to see the photos, click the
full story link as jnd has posted them in their report. Hopefully this
shoot won't "help" Britney's career in the same way it helped Demi's.

Gang Attacks |
Day in Rock reports: Lakewood, Wa police are
warning residents to stay out of Fort Steilacoom Park at night after 23
people were victimized in three attacks last week, according to the Tacoma
based News Tribune. The people - who told police they didn't know their
attackers - were beaten with sticks, threatened with a machete or robbed
of their cell phones, wallets or shoes during incidents after the park
closed Tuesday and Wednesday, police Lt. Dave Guttu said.
The attackers told their victims they were
Juggalos, devoted fans of the Detroit rap group Insane Clown Posse.
"We haven't confirmed that but that's what
they are claiming," Guttu said.

Band
Vs CBS Rockstar |
Day in Rock reports: Orange County punk band
Supernova is reportedly taking legal action against CBS over the second
season of Rock Star which debuts on the network next Wednesday (July 5th).
The show features Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist
Gilby Clarke, and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted searching for
a singer for a group that they have named Supernova.
The OC band, who's song "Chewbacca" was
featured in the film "Clerks," claims they own the rights to the name they
have used for 20 years. "You can't just waltz up and use our name," Supernova
drummer Dave Collins told MTV. "We're willing to fight for our name, our
band. We have trademark rights to the name and we can prove those rights."
The band has reportedly sent CBS a cease-and-desist
letter as they don't want their name associated with a bunch of "washed-up
metalheads", but their attorney says that the disput haven't gotten that
serious yet. [see the full story link for MTV's full article about this
