by neighbours

Adoptroversy |
hecklerspray reports: Adoption ain't what
it was. Time was that you could adopt a child just by creeping into a house
at night, chloroforming some parents, making away with a baby and raising
it as a penguin-servant in your underground sewer lair.
Not that Madonna would ever go to that
length to adopt a baby; mainly because she doesn't even know if Malawi
has sewers or not, and she only wants a baby from Malawi because they're
the most fashionable sort at the moment. Anyway, trying to keep up with
all this Madonna Malawi adoption kerfuffle has been insanely difficult,
but so far we think that Madonna has been given interim custody of little
David Banda for now. However, a bunch of human rights groups in Malawi
are now looking to halt Madonna's adoption of David Banda because they
say that international adoption rules are being bent. Well, that's one
reason - the human rights groups are worried about the mental impact of
David Banda seeing his new Mum dancing about in the kitchen wearing nothing
but a mind-shudderingly pornographic gynotard for the first time, too.[see

Jet
Silenced |
PR reports: It is with much regret that JET
have been forced to postpone part of their current European tour, from
14 to 25 October. Lead singer Nic Cester developed acute laryngitis and
completely lost his voice in New York two weeks ago. The band postponed
two shows (which have now been re-scheduled) and Nic rested his voice,
before completing the rest of their US run. However, despite best efforts,
Nic has developed nodules on his vocal chords as a result of returning
to the live arena before he had completely recovered. The good news is
that the nodules are small and with rest and treatment they should disappear
completely. Nic will now spend the next two weeks in London undergoing
specialist treatment before recommencing their world touring schedule in
support of new album Shine On, which was released last week.[see full story

Nostradameus's
New Hire |
blabbermouth.net reports: NOSTRADAMEUS drummer
Esko Salow has posted the following message on the band's official web
site: "This is a happy moment for us in NOSTRADAMEUS. Time has come for
us too announce the latest addition to the band, a dear friend and excellent
guitar player with the name Lennart Specht. After the decision too split
our ways with Michael Åberg we decided to finish the album before
starting the work [of] finding a replacement. We stood before the choice
of lots of auditions and learning to live with people we didn't know or
to take someone we already knew as a great guitar player and songwriter,
and it sure was a easy choice that we don't regret. Specht has been playing
together with Esko for the past 18 years in various bands and for the last
eleven years with Thomas and Esko in PATHOS and later FEJD. [see full story

Music
Sales Down |
TuneLab reports: A new report says recorded
music sales in the U.S. fell 6.1 percent in the first half of 2006, led
by a 14 percent drop in CD sales. The retail value of music sales also
fell to $4.9 billion in the first six months of 2006, according to the
Los Angeles Times. Declines in the demand for CDs and other traditional
formats still outweighed the large 86.6 percent jump in digital music sales.
Digital music sales more than doubled worldwide in the first half of the
year to $945 million, and digital sales now account for 11 percent of the
total recorded music market. [see full story for more. you can bet an RIAA
press release blames it on piracy and not the lack of quality releases]-
