Vs Oprah |
Contact Music reports: ICE CUBE has joined
LUDACRIS and 50 CENT as the latest rapper to attack US media mogul OPRAH
WINFREY for her apparent dislike for hip-hop stars. He tells men's magazine
FHM, "I've been involved in three projects pitched to her, but I've never
been asked to participate. "For Barbershop, she had CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER
and EVE on, but I wasn't invited. Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop.
"She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors (JAMES FREY)
on her show. And, if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?"[see

Roth
Wants Reunion |
antiMusic reports: David Lee Roth sees a Van
Halen reunion in the future. "I see it absolutely as an inevitability,"
Roth told Billboard. "There's contact between the two camps, and they have
legitimate management; Irv Azoff is part of their loop now.
"To me, it's not rocket surgery. It's very
simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the
dam, like what's-her-name says to what's-her-name at the end of the movie
'Chicago' -- 'So what? It's showbiz!' So I definitely see it happening."
VH fans don't hold your breath; Roth hasn't
seen Eddie "in a couple of years". But now that Roth isn't tied down to
his radio job after CBS freed him of that responsibility last month, he
has plenty of time to try and bring the original Van Halen together. Click

extravaganza with police admitting that they took robust action against
drug users.
Northumberland police told the BBC: "The
policing operation went well. We said we'd take a robust approach, and
we did this using a variety of resources, including drugs dogs." [see full

Sting |
Gigwise reports: Sting has somehow decided
it's a good idea to release an album of 16th century lute music.
We've got guitarist Dominic Miller to blame.
He gave Sting a lute two years ago, which apparently reminded the former
Police frontman of a dormant love of ancient songwriter John Dowland, who
composed exclusively for the instrument.[see full story for more]-

Blabbermouth reports: Long-running Canadian
thrashers ANNIHILATOR have been forced to cancel their previously announced

band's official forum, mainman Jeff Waters wrote, "We were, of course,
really looking forward to doing this tour but will unfortunately have to

Final
Ministry |
antiMusic reports: If you've been putting
off seeing Ministry, you better act now as Al Jourgensen has told Billboard
that following this tour the band will make their final album (hopefully
followed by a tour). And unlike KISS, Al says he means it.
"I've got other things to do," Jourgensen
told Billboard. "I just started a label (13th Planet Records), and I want
to sign some bands and really build it up like I did with WaxTrax in the
'80s, not just a vanity label. I think it's time -- and I'll be leaving
on the top of my game instead of hanging on too long and doing crappy Aerosmith
and Rolling Stones albums 30 years later." You can read more about Al's
plans and the concept behind this final album at the full story link.-

Emo
Trash |
antiMusic reports: The Warped Tour is known
for one thing. Recycling. Not just a dozen bands recycling the same songs
year after year, emo CD after emo CD but they literally have a recycling
program in place where if you're willing to pick up recyclable trash around
the shows you can get a ticket, t-shirt and what they call other bonuses
(no idea what that might be. free emo cds?). They're looking for trash
collectors in the following cities (no crap bands do not count as trash)
Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Bonner Springs, Nashville, Jacksonville, Miami,
Orlando, Ladsen, Raleigh, Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, Las Cruces, and
Phoenix. Find out more about a wonderful career in waste management at

Punkrocks.net
RIP |
punkbands reports: Punkrocks.net have called
it quits. This was one of the first truly great sites which started in
the early ages of punk rock webzines (AKA 1999). The long-running site
posted this message on their website:
"After seven years, three redesigns, two
Warped Tours, several tragedies and one positive review of an Allister
record (which we're still a little red-faced about), we've decided it's
time for punkrocks.net to close our doors. While most of you may have noticed
this two years ago, we've really lagged on providing new content, and it's
become painstakingly clear to us that no one (particularly myself), has
the motivation to keep this zine as a priority anymore.[see full story
