Sum
41 Split |
MTV reports: Sum 41 lead guitarist Dave 'Brownsound'
Baksh has decided to leave the band. In a press release, Dave revealed,
"I couldn't continue on creatively in Sum 41 without being a thorn in the
side of the band. As people grow, they change." Brownsound added, however,
that there is absolutely no animosity between him and the other members
of the band, saying "we are brothers." According to Mike Renaud, the president
of Upper Management, the split was simply a matter of Baksh wanting to
focus his creative energies elsewhere. Brown Brigade will have more of
a "classic metal" feel to it, Renaud said, adding that Baksh is currently
working on songs and auditioning singers for the band. [see full story

Idol
Recount? |
MSNBC reports: "American Idol" sent rocker
Chris Daughtry home Wednesday night, but Daughtry's fans aren't quite ready
to let him go. At least one online petition, with more than 16,000 names
attached, is calling for a recount of the "American Idol" votes.
MSNBC.com has received numerous e-mails
and bulletin board posts claiming that voters who dialed the first of Daughtry's
two phone numbers were greeted by a recorded message from "Idol" singer
Katharine McPhee, thanking the caller for voting for her. According to
Wednesday night's show, McPhee received the second-lowest number of votes,
after Daughtry.[see full story for more]- Click

says that the bands new project is also at the foetal stage.
He told MTV: "I wouldn't even say this

GNR
Return |
Day in Rock reports: Guns N' Roses made their
triumphant return to the stage on Friday night and GNR fans from around
the world that couldn't attend deluged antiMusic as Mark Strigl of Talkin
Metal gave us the blow by blow via text messaging. So many fans logged
on that our two servers had to be rebooted several times during the special.
Here are some of the highlights: We learned that the new guitarist in the
band is Bumblefoot aka Ron Thal, who Mark a.k.a. Capt T used to play shows
with. Celebs were on hand as well. Furio (Federico Castelluccio) from the
Sopranos, Sebastian Bach (who later joined GNR on stage for "My Michelle"),
Peter Greene (Zed in Pulp Fiction) hung out with Mark and his crew and
even bought Mark's wife a drink, Eddie Trunk hung out for a bit before
leaving to do his radio show. On stage the band played a ton of classics
from the opener "Welcome to the Jungle" to the closer "Paradise City,"
they also performed some new songs from the forthcoming 'Chinese Democracy'
including "Better," "I.R.S.," and "There was a time". Mark was most impressed
by Robin Finck's performance throughout the show. Robin also jumped into
the crowd a couple times and Axl delivered, at 1 AM Mark wrote "Axl hitting
every note 2 Hours in without a problem!" And Axl even acknowledged the
recent leaks when he introduced "I.R.S." by saying "I see you people singing
the new songs. You downloaded them f**kers!" You can read Mark's text messages
at the full story link as well as get links to Talking Metal's short recap
and from there read Mark's blog about the show to find out who in the band
he got to hang with back stage and more (click the GNR logo on the right
hand menu once on the Talking Metal site). We'd like to thank Mark again
for everything. We're sure his fingers are still tired from all of that
texting! But if there was ever any doubt, it can now rest, GUNS N' ROSES

Jani.. Passed Out on Stage |
Metal Sludge reports: We have received a few
reports of some new Jani Lane drama in New York. For the record: Metal
Sludge is not making fun of Jani Lane - but rather making a point to the
"enablers" and 20% 'ers who believe that this man is fit to represent an
era of music, and a lifestyle we ALL want to enjoy, take part in and be
proud of.
...yes folks, just got back from the show

are false are TRUE! the night ended with Jani passing out on stage and
being walked to his van where he left right away... first off, only about
100 ppl tops at the show...18 bucks a head may of had something to do with
that...first, the band doent go on stage til almost 1....and didnt arrive
til after 1230...and to top it off[see full story for more]-
