GNR Return

05/15/06

(Day in Rock) Guns N' Roses made their triumphant return to the stage on Friday night and GNR fans from around the world that couldn't attend deluged antiMusic as Mark Strigl of Talkin Metal gave us the blow by blow via text messaging. So many fans logged on that our two servers had to be rebooted several times during the special. Here are some of the highlights: We learned that the new guitarist in the band is Bumblefoot aka Ron Thal, who Mark a.k.a. Capt T used to play shows with. Celebs were on hand as well. Furio (Federico Castelluccio) from the Sopranos, Sebastian Bach (who later joined GNR on stage for "My Michelle"), Peter Greene (Zed in Pulp Fiction) hung out with Mark and his crew and even bought Mark's wife a drink, Eddie Trunk hung out for a bit before leaving to do his radio show. On stage the band played a ton of classics from the opener "Welcome to the Jungle" to the closer "Paradise City," they also performed some new songs from the forthcoming 'Chinese Democracy' including "Better," "I.R.S.," and "There was a time". Mark was most impressed by Robin Finck's performance throughout the show. Robin also jumped into the crowd a couple times and Axl delivered, at 1 AM Mark wrote "Axl hitting every note 2 Hours in without a problem!" And Axl even acknowledged the recent leaks when he introduced "I.R.S." by saying "I see you people singing the new songs. You downloaded them f**kers!" You can read Mark's text messages at the full story link as well as get links to Talking Metal's short recap and from there read Mark's blog about the show to find out who in the band he got to hang with back stage and more (click the GNR logo on the right hand menu once on the Talking Metal site). We'd like to thank Mark again for everything. We're sure his fingers are still tired from all of that texting! But if there was ever any doubt, it can now rest, GUNS N' ROSES ARE BACK! - Click here for the Full Story
