On Friday, he released the album's first single, "Take Me Down," featuring Little Big Town. It's full of sexy and winding guitar solos that hint at love's power to capitulate. Gill's smooth, almost lamenting vocals, counter the song's weighted rhythm.
'Forty years into this, it's still as much fun as it's ever been to play music," Gill said of his new music. 'At the end of the day, what I get excited about is doing something I haven't done before. When I record a song, I feel successful if I've accomplished something new."

Carmack who recently released his first single "Being Alone" will debut his first EP Pieces of You on Dec. 11. Unlike the songs fans hear week to week on Nashville, this project reflects Carmack's personal inspirations from blues, jazz and funk to folk and country music.
"All of those elements exist in all of these songs, but some are more highlighted than others," he tells Rolling Stone Country. "There's some hard-hitting blues electric guitar and I've got some mellow acoustic guitar. I play guitar on every track and I sing on every track."
Carmack isn't the only Nashville cast member pursuing a music career, but that doesn't mean they're competitors.
"I think because we're all in the same boat, we're very supportive of one another," he says. "If somebody's playing in town -- if somebody's playing the Opry -- we go and support each other. Sometimes there's so much going on you don't hear about it. I'll hear that Chip [Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne] played the Opry and I'll be like, 'Why didn't you tell me? I would have come.'"

'We're working on it right now," said Aldean. 'Been in the studio a little bit. Hopefully a new single [will be out] some time in the spring and album in the summer."
Jason didn't divulge many details about the new music he's working on, but he did give a sense of the general direction he's headed for his seventh studio effort.
'We didn't really have any big, rock tempo records for this record. Honestly, that's one thing we were lacking," he says. 'It was more vibe-y than the big tempo stuff we always had. The new album has a lot of the big tempos, a lot more rock-oriented stuff on this next one."
Aldean will hit the road in the new year with Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses, full dates here.
People magazine reports that the Georgia native talked about her rise to stardom, gave advice to those eager to join the music industry and spoke at the current state of country music.

Missy changed all of that and broke down doors so rappers like Nicki Minaj could follow in the newly opened path. In a recent interview, Elliott talks about influencing artists like Nicki Minaj and some seem to think the statement is a tad shady or simply taken out of context.
Missy Elliott spoke to Billboard about her career comeback and the Young Money rap star was brought up. When asked what she thought of Minaj being a direct descendant of her rap style, Missy said, "Oh, she is? Unfortunately, breaking news, there is only one Missy." Elliott cleaned it up a bit adding, "There's room for so many [woman MCs]. It's important." Read more here.
My single "Veritas" all started from the actual last line of the song. I came up with that first. "Veritas on the trigger finger, Boondocks Saint"
I'm a huge fan of that movie, and I loved how he had that tattooed on his trigger finger. "Veritas" means truth in Italian and after i wrote that line i started just reflecting on my career, the ups, the downs, and wanted to address that on the album head on. I didn't know or plan on it being on the first single, but i knew i wanted it on the album. It is pretty ironic that the last line on the song is what i wrote first though. I think that's kinda cool.
I then got the idea to start the song off like how Jay-Z started "Heart of the City (Ain't No Love)." He says: "First the Fat Boys break, now everyday i wake up, somebody got a problem with Hov"
I thought that would be cool to playoff that and say: "First Vonnegutt gonna break up, everyday I wake up, somebody got a question about Big."
That sort of set the tone lyrically for how I wanted the song to be. I wanted to address my band breaking up, me not being signed to Big Boi (of Outkast) anymore and address all these issues that my fans ask about. I wanted that to be the first thing you hear on my album. Just put it all out there and get it out of the way.
Judge sent me the beat and i wrote to it for a week or so then laid down the initial vocals with Simon illa in his apartment. I knew i wanted that to be the first song off my album but had no idea for a chorus. I actually tried to do like 2 different chorus myself and they didn't turn out well. Then we got the idea to put Jonny Craig on the hook, or ask him rather, because he played a huge role in getting my solo career to where it is now. He re-inspired me after my band broke up to be a solo emcee, and believed in me enough to work on music with me and take me on the road. So it made a lot of sense to me to have him be featured on this song, which is essentially about starting this new chapter in my career. I was stoked he liked the song enough to do it.
So what initially was suppose to just be the "Intro" track to my album took shape into a complete song and turned into the actual first single released off the album. I'm glad it worked out that way.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
