Day in Pop Report for 01/28/2015
Shortly after Swift's Twitter and Instagram accounts were hacked, she posted the following message on her Tumblr account, "Well, now I'm awakeMy Twitter got hacked but don't worry, Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new passwords." She added, "Never a dull moment." A twitter user reportedly threatened to publish nude photos of Swift and she responded via her Twitter account, "PS any hackers saying they have 'nudes'? Psssh you'd love that wouldn't you! Have fun photoshopping cause you got NOTHING."
The tour was scheduled to begin on Tuesday night in Hampton, Virginia but Brown announced via his Instagram account on Monday that the tour was being postponed. He wrote, "I would first like to apologize to all the fans and people who have been supporters of me and all the music over the years. The beginning of the BTS tour has been moved to later dates now. "The judge would not sign off on my travel to do the tour until I finish these last 100 hours of community service. I promise that I am busting my ass doing it everyday until it's complete. "This is the most disappointing news I've gotten in a while. Everything happens for a reason so I wanted to personally inform my fans. The show must go on. "Out of 1000 hours I only have 100 left. I will work my a-- off to complete it and I will be on that stage. Once again I'm sorry for the delay. I love yall! We will let yall know the dates that are changed. It's not cancelled. Just moved around a couple weeks."

Gates was rapping at a club in Kentucky on Saturday--on the Southern leg of his I Don't Get Tired Tour--when the incident took place. Shots were fired after a fight broke out in the crowd: police rushed to the scene, one person suffered a non-life-threatening bullet wound and several others suffered minor injuries in the ensuing rush to the exit. Some people stayed however, and Gates jumped in the crowd and performed three more songs for them. The police want to speak to Gates because they believe that his vantage point on stage must have given him a good idea of who committed the shooting. Read more here.
Aguilera has been recruited for the game's opening where she will be joined by the Rockettes dance troupe for a "New York-inspired performance". The All-Star Game will be taking place on February 15 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Christina won't be the only pop star performing at the event. As we reported last week, Ariana Grande has been named as the halftime headliner for the game. Fans will be able to watch the performance and the game on the TNT network that will be kicking off their broadcast at 8 p.m. ET.
Shelton has been cast to play the role of Wyatt Earp. Other familiar faces involved in the film include Taylor Lautner, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trefo, Chris Parnell, Lavell Crawford and Whitney Cummings. Read more here.
The show will get an initial run of 15 episodes, and with the cast's pedigree, as well as the show's creators coming from Glee and American Horror Story, boasts promising projections for the success of the program. This is not Jonas' or Grande's first rodeo with acting, as Jonas is a series regular on Kingdom and has a rich Disney Channel history, while Grande rose up on Nickelodeon with Victorious and Sam & Cat. Yes, that 2 Chainz. Though he doesn't really have much political work on his resume, the popular rapper is well-versed at being in the public spotlight and inspiring people to action, so maybe that is enough. 'I am looking forward to running at the end of this year or next year. [I'm] waiting to see if I meet all of the qualifications!" 2 Chainz told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He reiterated the interest to XXLMag.com: 'I'm supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing." Whether or not this actually happens remains to be seen, but the interest is at least there, and with a modest population of 13,942, it might be a good proving ground for an inexperienced political leader. We all had to start somewhere. In other 2 Chainz news, he has just released his new mixtape, T.R.U. Jack City. You can check it out here.
The 10-song album also includes the Randy Newman song "Marie," a cover of Smokey Robinson's "My Girl" and the bright, catchy "Country Boy (You Got Your Feet in L.A.)." The latter became a hit for Campbell in 1976, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard country chart. The new Rhinestone Cowboy (40th Anniversary Edition) also features five bonus tracks. These include the previously unreleased track 'Quits," recorded by Campbell in March 1975 during the album's studio sessions; the song 'Record Collector's Dream," which was the 'Rhinestone Cowboy" single's B-side; 'Coming Home," a studio version that had previously only been released as a single in Japan; and remixes of 'Country Boy (You Got Your Feet In LA)" and 'Rhinestone Cowboy" (both of which were previously released on Campbell's Greatest Hits collection). Fans of the X Factor alums will notice that the artwork has changed since the group asked their followers to vote for a cover back in August. Fifth Harmony ditched the cocktail attire they wore on the first iteration of their cover for a sleeker all-black look, which better captures the more mature sound they went after this time around. "We have shifted the lane a bit and made it a more mature sound, because obviously, we're growing up too," singer Lauren Jauregui told Billboard of Reflection back in March. Read more here.
The release will feature recordings from the special intimate shows that Springfield has been performing for the past two years where he shares stories about the songs along with the performances. Springfield had this to say about the release, "I am pretty excited for Loud & Proud Records' CD/DVD release of Stripped Down. The conception and execution of my solo storytellers show is something I basically worked on my whole life and it's awesome to bring the finished product to the fans who embraced it with the sold out shows across America in 2014. Now, if you can't make it to one of my 2015 Stripped Down dates live, you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own living roomnaked, if you want." Fans in various North American cities will also be able to see the intimate Stripped Down solo shows in person this winter and spring as Springfield will be kicking off a new round of dates on February 5th in Dallas, TX at the Majestic Theatre. Check out the tracklistings and the tour dates here.
It was Lee Brice, who wrote the song, and Brooks took it to No. 1 back in 2007. This gave Brice his very first hit as a songwriter. "If you're a Lee Brice fan, then this song is probably more his than it is mine," Brooks said as he introduced Brice to the stage. "I love this guy." Brice then took the stage to screams and sang the song with Brooks' urging. Later that night, both Brooks and Brice recalled the night's events on Twitter. "Bucket list...check...Holy crap...I just sang with @garthbrooks in Boston! #BostonStrong #ThankYouGarth"- Lee Brice (@leebrice) January 25, 2015 Watch the performance here.
"I know you don't have a band with you but because it's my birthday and I just want to hear the song. I brought a guitar that maybe you'd want to play," she said as she reached for Urban's guitar. "I thought you'd want to do that because your name is on it." Urban obliged, and after he recognized his own guitar he said, "I wish I had Eric [Church] here, he'd sing with me." Urban started strumming the guitar and sang the first few verses of "Raise 'Em Up" before he switched gears to "Happy Birthday." Read more and watch the appearance here.
"I'm in the hiring stage at the moment, if you're looking for a job," she joked, though we think all dancers should apply. Who wouldn't want to dance back-up to someone so fancy she already know? Not a bad thing to add to your resume. Azalea also said she's hard at work on her dress for the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards, where she's up for four awards including Record of the Year and Best New Artist. Read more here.
On Tuesday (Jan. 27) the guys released the video that accompanies "Squeeze Me," and it's certainly psychedelic. In the animated clip, N.E.R.D. all get the Spongebob treatment and are turned into live-action cartoons in the shape of the titular character. They float around the Krusty Krab, see the sights in Bikini Bottom and even make it into outer space because hey, why not? The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water is out on Feb. 6. In addition to "Squeeze Me," Pharrell and his crew appear on two additional songs written for the soundtrack: the tracks "Patrick Star" and "Sandy Squirrel," both of which are named for major characters in the SpongeBob universe. Watch the video here.
They will fund project through the website fanbacked.com, which allows fans to contribute directly. Raekwon wants the documentary to offer a look into the circumstances surrounding the album's creation in 1995. The album is considered one of the most important classics in hip-hop's canon. In an interview with Complex, Raekwon explained that he doesn't have a specific fundraising goal. "It's just all about the participation, no number," he said. "It's just about people getting involved and really showing us that, 'You know what? I care about this legendary album.'" Read more here.
Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line and Brad Paisley are the headline acts, while the lineup also will feature sets by Frankie Ballard, Easton Corbin, Clare Dunn, Mickey Guyton, Randy Houser, Maddie and Tae, Ashley Monroe, Kip Moore, Justin Moore, David Lee Murphy, Joe Nichols, Cassadee Pope, RaeLynn, Thomas Rhett and Canaan Smith. Additional artists will be revealed in the coming weeks. The last cinematic version of the FF is being wiped from the continuity--which is convenient, as Johnny (Human Torch) Storm was played by Chris Evans, who has since gone on to play Captain America. In this new version, Miles Teller, costar of the Oscar-nominated Whiplash, plays Reed (Mr. Fantastic) Richards; Kate Mara of 24 and American Horror Story fame plays Susan (Invisible Woman) Storm; Michael B. Jordan, star of Fruitvale Station, plays Johnny Storm; and Jamie Bell from the TV series Turn plays Ben (The Thing) Grimm. The trailer doesn't show much FF action though; instead, it sets the scene for the team's origin. A voice (Dr. Doom's?) asks us, "How did we get this far? Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover to invent to build." It's not until 1:15 into the trailer that we see something identifiably "Fantastic," when a figure down a hall (presumably Johnny Storm) bursts into flames, followed by what looks to be one of Sue Storm's invisible force fields moving through New York City. We also get a brief glimpse of Reed Richards stretching but not much of Ben Grimm turning into the Thing (although that's probably him getting ready for "Clobberin' Time" at 1:09). Fantastic Four opens August 7. Watch the trailer here.
"I Need Your Love" is a song produced by Costi' this is a producer I've worked with on a song with Bob Sinclar called "I Wanna" that was a big hit for us in Europe. Costi came to me with as skeleton idea on a new song called "I Need Your love" that would feature Mohombi and Faydee ... The minute I heard the idea I immediately was drawn to its feel good vibe of the track . I took my phone out and started to lay some melodies while I was on the road, by the time I got to the studio to cut the vocals I was very excited with the song and the vibe I had come up with. I sent the song to Costi and when he send me the finished version I immediately thought wow we got a smash here. "I Need Your Love" is my new single out on iTunes now. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video right here!
