The track features jaunty, horn-driven production from G_Force. For their part, De La Soul and Nas both offer playful and lyrical verses about the rap game and their place in it. Meditations on the changing face of the music industry abound: "When platinum sales becomes wood" is one metaphorical examination of the way in which the industry has changed since the first days of De La Soul. While Soul are in the studio working on their new album, they noted that this track won't be on it. In a note on their Soundcloud, they made clear that this is just a loosie. 'I just wanted to make a fun video, portraying the way a girl kinda makes you lose your mind and completely wraps all of your thoughts around her." The concept apparently came to Eldredge in a place that's caused anxiety for many. "We start in 1990, where she first sang at the Hired Hand karaoke bar in Fort Myers, Fla.," Blake told Rolling Stone Country. "She was a karaoke star, so to speak, and it was the night that she met Roger Clemens. All of this is true. What we've done since is re-imagined what happened in those situations and those conversations in all the research we've done."
