Over the last few weeks of 05 we will be posting our writers' picks for the best of 2005. Each day we posted a new Top 5 list from one of our writers. Now at the conclusion we are please to present the master list comprised of the top picks from all of our writer submissions. Brodie's Top 5 of 05. 5. Blindside - The Great
Depression: Incredibly mature step
forward for the boys from Sweden. Passionate, heavy, and meaningful. Solid,
solid effort.
4. Sigur Ros - Takk: Surreal.
Beautiful and surreal.
3. Minus the Bear - Menos El Oso:
This band simply continues to outdo themselves. Originality on top of originality.
Different, yet completely familiar.
2. Sufjan Stevens - Come on, Feel
the Illinoise: Album of the Year. Another 'happy' album, but
Suf blends enough low-key introspection to have you laughing one minute,
and weeping the next. Brilliance on a shiny disc.
1. The New Pornographers - Twin
Cinema: Simply amazing. One of those cds that you can't help but smile
ear-to-ear while listening to.
