"If you're that curious about my sexuality, watch my documentary," she continued. "But I don't owe anybody anything." The posts echo the sentiment the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer recently shared in an interview with PrideSource.
"I just feel like everyone's always looking for a headline and they always want their magazine or TV show or whatever to be the one to break what my sexuality is," Lovato told the publication. "I feel like it's irrelevant to what my music is all about. I stand up for the things that I believe in and the things that I'm passionate about, but I like to keep my personal life as private as possible when it comes to dating and sexuality and all that stuff just because it has nothing to do with my music. Unfortunately, we live in a world where everyone is trying to get that soundbite and I am purposefully not giving the soundbite. Watch my documentary."

"How Did We?" was written in December of last year. I had just flown into LA from Italy. I had been working on my EP since the summer with Mike Miller, my friend and longtime collaborator, and knew we wanted to get one more record in before the end of the year. Mike and I had just landed and only had 48 hours to make something with him before I had to fly back to Europe. In retrospect, the time crunch, plus the jet lag influenced the whole vibe/sound of the record. I was tired, a bit off, and my voice was scratchy. I really didn't think we were going to make something relatively worth releasing in that amount of time. When I was writing it, I kept on thinking in my head, "How did I get here?," thinking I was in Europe only a day ago.
When the lyrics started coming out, I started pulling from a night out I had on Halloween where I woke up and for the first time, didn't remember the night. The irony of how a night I didn't remember somehow becoming memorable to me inspired me. Turning a memory that, at the time, bugged me, into something fun to look back on.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about Nick
