Singled Out: The Band Gooch's Stuck With You

The Band Gooch are gearing up to release their debut album, "Modern High," in July and to celebrate we asked Jared to tell us about the single "Stuck With You". Here is the story:

"Stuck with You" is one of the first songs I wrote as I was trying to figure myself out, and what I was supposed to do with my life. The song comes from a party I attended at a friend's house a few years ago. I remember walking up to the house, it was in a townhome complex. Every single house looked the EXACT same, same color, same layout, same everything. Once we got there, we started socializing with people. Every single conversation was the exact same. It was like;

"Hey How's it going, what are you up to?"

"Oh you know, work and school."

"Cool what are you studying?"

"Oh Business management, or communications, or Finance".

"Awesome! Where are you working?"

Literally every single answer was the same, some small tech company doing an entry level sales job. It was absolute hell. I couldn't help but think, where is the creativity here? You're telling me that every person in this room can only amount to some corporate job? We're just supposed to submit, pay tons of money, go to school and work for someone else forever!? It's like modern slavery. I could not believe it. It was so boring, everything was the same, everyone was the same. There was no variety, no sense of adventure, no ambition, no life, it sucked! It's like everyone just graduated high school and accepted the fact that life sucks, you have to go to school, get a job and live your life like everyone else on someone else's terms. If everyone lived that way, where would the world be today? There probably would be no great inventions, places, hell the United States wouldn't even exist!

"Stuck with You" comes from that. It is a song about what I don't want to do and who I don't want to be. Being in that environment really opened my eyes to that, which was a great starting point for who and what I DO want to be. "
