Singled Out: Sisters Doll's Black Mirror05-14-2019
Glam rockers Sisters Doll made a name for themselves as the runner up on Australia's Got Talent and just released their new single "Black Mirror". To celebrate we asked Brennan Mileto to tell us about the track. Here is the story: Black Mirror is our newest material since 2017's "All Dolled Up" album and this is actually the first song we have worked on together in the same room. Normally in the past when we write one of us generally comes in with an idea and we go from there but with Black Mirror we all constructed it together from melodies to drum's and everything in between. Musically, Black Mirror is probably a little bit darker and heavier for Sisters Doll but we have kept true to our roots in the terms of writing and keeping with the strong catchy melodies that people can sing along to. The song is about our obsession with being on our phones and social media and its manipulation and trepidation of that. Brennan read an article about what a black mirror is, and one sentence he found was the vulnerability we all have when we are looking into a black mirror whether it be a phone, computer or other device. We believe everyone is at their most vulnerable when they are looking into the "black mirror". Brennan thought the concept was cool and so true and was a relevant title for our generation. We believe our generation is so reliant on technology which isn't a bad thing but I think if it keep's going in the direction it is we will all be like zombies in the future. We love technology and social media but just feel it's taking over the world. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!
