In the lore of heavy metal, only a handful of artists can claim to have changed history, and even fewer can say they've done so twice. Enter Apocalyptica, and one of metal's greatest, most unlikely success stories. By any account, it's the stuff of legend, and it's about to come full circle as Apocalyptica announces their "Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2 Tour" across the United States, featuring support from guitar virtuoso Nita Strauss.

Formed in 1993 at the world-renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, Apocalyptica began as a loving, lo-fi nod to Metallica from four classically trained musicians. Their debut album, Plays Metallica By Four Cellos, released in 1996, was a game-changer. As founding band leader Eicca Toppinen explains, "We just loved Metallica and we wanted to play it with the instruments we were able to play, which just happened to be cellos. We played a metal club in Helsinki, and then we were asked to do an album. Five months after it was released, we were opening for Metallica. It's still unbelievable to me." (continue)

Trench are back with a brand new banger. The band has shared the video for "Divided Between New Skin." It's actually three singles in one: "Divided Existence," "Between Inverted Worlds," and "New Skin Protocol." Yes, it's a rager. Yes, it will tear your head clean off your neck with its ferociousness, while the animated video will capture your attention and never let it go. Essentially, Trench and "Divided Between New Skin" are the total hard rock package.

"The first track 'Divided Existence' is entirely electronic and was composed by Cole Young," says vocalist Jay Breen. "The song was designed to ease you in and take you on a journey leading into the first track. The song 'Between Inverted Worlds' tackles the emotions of always being between self doubt and self fulfillment. The track is about facing your defeat and self doubt. 'New Skin Protocol' is metaphorically about the reinvention of yourself though facing these emotions." (continue)

Indie folk pop star Cherylann Hawk just released her brand new single "Love & Gratitude", and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

I am absolutely thrilled to finally be releasing Love & Gratitude into the wind. I say finally because I wrote it in 2012 after a friend from Pittsburgh called me up from Nashville saying that he was working for a record company, and they had signed a new gal who needed more material for her debut album. He mentioned that he felt that many of my songs could be countrified with a little fiddle or pedal steel, so he asked me to send him a few, which I did, and then I wrote 2 more songs as well... songs that sound country without any other instrumentation, one being "Love & Gratitude."
