Trailblazing electro-metal hybridizers Powerman 5000 kicked 2024 into high gear with the release of their brand new single "1999" earlier this month and announced their next full-length effort, Abandon Ship, which is set for release on all formats May 10. It's been 4 years since the release of the band's previous album, The Noble Rot, which spawned an underground neo-gothic sensation with "Black Lipstick." Now, bandleader Spider One continues his journey to the dark side of the dancefloor with a fresh set of 10 original songs that will make Abandon Ship one of this year's most infectious industrial metal albums.
The new single "Dancing Like We're Dead" evokes images of a postmortem rave-up, populated with severed heads and undertakers, riding a dark and gritty groove that's both chilling and infectious. With Spider One at the turntable, graves will rock and heads are gonna roll! Who said the afterlife would be a bore? (continue)
The String Cheese Incident is thrilled to share "Roll Around The Sun," a nearly 10-minute, epic journey and exploration of rhythm and song. "Roll Around The Sun" was co-written by Jason Hann (SCI percussionist) and Brian Chapman (Zoo People) and features lead vocals by SCI's electric mandolin player Michael Kang. The song itself is a musical voyage with twists and turns, much like any voyage, even life itself. "Many of us witnessed the recent solar eclipse, and I hope that " Roll Around the Sun" can bring back some of those same feelings of awe and wonderment," says Hann.
"Roll Around The Sun" follows the release of "County Road Blues," and "Windy Mountain" - special bonus tracks from 2023's Lend Me A Hand. SCI is known for its immersive live show experience that continually pushes into unexpected terrain. The Colorado-bred six-piece handles everything from bluegrass to dubstep to psychedelia with equal parts abandon and ingenuity-a feat that's found them sharing stages with such wide-ranging artists as Lauryn Hill, Skrillex, James Brown, Billy Strings, Perry Farrell, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown Band, and more. Now, The Smashing Pumpkins officially welcome highly-skilled veteran instrumentalist Kiki Wong as their additional touring guitarist. Kiki joins the band's tour lineup along with mainstays Jack Bates (bass) and Katie Cole (guitar, keys, vocals). (continue)

Evan Boyer just released his brand new single "Cedar Creek," from his forthcoming album, "The Devil In Me", and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
"Cedar Creek" is a song that I was actually looking forward to sitting down to writing. I knew I really didn't have any uplifting songs on my album yet, but I had the premise for the track in my head. I just had to sit down and write it, and once I sat down it was probably one of the quicker writes I've had. (continue)
