Southtowne Lanes just released their new single "Witness", from their forthcoming album, "Take Care", and to celebrate we asked vocalist / guitarist Matt Kupka to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
"Witness" was originally written on a particularly rough tour in a hotel room outside of Pueblo, CO in 2019. It was in the middle of a two month tour, and I was struggling. The song came from a place of defeat, frustration, and resignation-it was meant to be an album finisher, not a beginner. But eventually I would see that the song goes on to establish a common theme heard throughout the rest of the record, which is the concept of light going (continue)

In celebration of the news, the band shared a new track "Forever" featuring Alejandro Aranda and the official visualizer, along with a new side-scroller game dovetailing with the 'Leap of Death' album artwork.
Speaking on today's news, the band commented: "Left to Suffer has taken many sonic gambles when it comes to creating music that describes us as a band. Trial and error, riff after riff, has only led us to molding a sound that is completely ours. Forever, is the culmination of years of risk-taking. Mixed with Alejandro Aranda's supreme talent, this song is a whirlwind of twists and turns and emotions, lined with simplicity but also tasteful in its journey across genres. This is the most risk we have taken, yet this is the most honest version of Left to Suffer you've ever received." (continue)
Felicity is putting their infectious songwriting on full display with their new shimmering pop-rock anthem, "Lovesick Blues". Drawing inspiration from popular songs spanning the decades, "Lovesick Blues" is a modern love song with a nostalgic twist, and a testament to the band's signature style of blending tongue-in-cheek lyricism with a wide spectrum of sounds that'll have you singing along in no time. The song is set to be released on May 14 via Zodhiac Records.
"'Lovesick Blues' is one of our favorite songs we've written. We feel like it's one of those timeless songs accessible to all generations," the band shares. "Many of our songs are geared toward a specific demographic. Our heavier songs might be for metal heads or a pop-punk anthem for the warped tour purist, but with 'Lovesick Blues', we feel like it could be played on the radio, in a department store, or sung in the shower." Propelled by Nigel's signature drumming and featuring Ian's extraordinary unique guitar stylings front and centre, the song is the perfect way to finish the 'Beyond Shadowland' journey, while hinting at the music that we still have ahead of us. On our last album, the closing track Save The Night proved to be our most popular song, so we're hoping to repeat the trick with The Mission!" (continue)

I went to bed that night in the studio under considerable pressure from the boys and I read an incredible story about a young 12-year-old who had a fear of heights, he overcame his fear by jumping off a high board. Eventually, he moved from South Africa to Oxford, England, and became a Spitfire ace, at age 19!" (continue)

Can have announced Can Live in Aston 1977, the latest in an ongoing series of Can album releases focusing on the band's live performances. It is set for release on vinyl, CD and digitally on May 31, 2024 via Mute and Future Days.
Live in Aston 1977 is a whole new lens through which we can view a unique band with seemingly inexhaustible energy for live performance. It comes at a difficult period for Can; their recently released eighth studio album, Saw Delight, had been badly received and although posterity has been kinder, the reviews on release were savage. It might be expected that the live performances from this time would reflect some of the criticisms of the album, that they were slowing down, perhaps even feeling a little jaded, but it cements the notion that Can live, at any period, was mercurial. Lost Dog Street have released a video for their new single "Hubbardville Store". The track comes from their forthcoming album, "Survived", which is due out on April 26th via Thirty Tigers.
"The story in this song is so close to any young man's heart," says Benjamin Tod of the single. "It's a tale of tragedy, exploitation, and revenge that cycles throughout every society and culture. Originally written by Larry Murray, Tod discovered the song by way of Jim Ringer, one of Tod's biggest folk-era influences. "He is an extremely obscure folk juggernaut from the 70s era who, somehow, has never been given attention or credit for his far reaching work," says Tod, who has always been keen to share his love of Ringer with anyone who might dig him (continue)
Former Disciples of Babylon vocalist Eric Knight has forged out on his own and has recently released his brand new single 'Out of This World' and to celebrate we have asked Eric Knight himself to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
'Out of This World' definitely came from a very isolated space of going through the pandemic, but even more so the isolation that I was dealing with on a personal level. I live a very kind of isolated nomadic type of life and I think I've always had to a certain extent. I like for the most part being to myself for long periods of time, although I do love the company of my family and friends and being around other people too of course. Too much of one thing is not healthy I think for anyone, myself included. You know we all go through highs and lows, ebb and flow etc. There are times where there would be this desperation of just wanting to get away from it all and just be and that's where the concept or storyline of the song came to be. The whole idea of being abducted by aliens and being taken to a faraway part of the universe had many deep meanings to me both metaphorically and literally speaking that I thought would make a great idea for the lyrics.
