The 35th anniversary of Tom Petty's "Full Moon Fever" album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.
Redbeard shared this synopsis for the episode: Revisiting the numbers and accolades generated by Tom Petty's first solo album Full Moon Fever, released in April 1989, it would be easy to assume Petty's long career just prior to Full Moon Fever to be similar: two Top Ten hits "I Won't Back Down" and "Free Fallin' "; #3 seller on Billboard's album sales chart (UK #8); over five million copies sold just domestically; and now ranked on Rolling Stone magazines Top 500 Albums All Time list at #298. Rizz & The Believerz, which features members from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whitesnake, Lou Gramm's solo band, and was founded by former Telsa drummer Troy Luccketta, just released their debut single "Don't Stop Trying". To celebrate we asked Rizz to tell us about the song. Here is the story:

It was fourth grade in Mrs. Summers class when I was cast as the Cowardly Lion in the school play, "The Wizard of OZ," a role that both thrilled and terrified me. Luckily, my mother, a talented actress, was the director and helped encourage me through the process. One night, I was rehearsing my lines in my parents' bedroom and my father interrupted me with a simple yet profound piece of advice: "If you're going to play the part, you have to own it. Really sing it with confidence and conviction." (continue)
