When Neil Young's 1973 live album release TIME FADES AWAY arrived, it was obviously a left-field surprise. It was recorded with the Stray Gators and featured previously unreleased songs.
At a time when the Young's popularity was surging following his highly successful studio album HARVEST, the new live album raised questions and even Young responded at the time, "TIME FADES AWAY was the worst record I ever made, but as a door of what was happening to me it was a great record." Van Morrison unveils his 45th studio album, Accentuate the Positive, which is out now. This electrifying homage to rock 'n' roll features the recent singles; the Johnny Kidd classic "Shakin' All Over", "Problems" , "Lucille" and the new single "Shake, Rattle and Roll" with Taj Mahal.
Like this year's acclaimed Moving On Skiffle, Accentuate The Positive sees Van Morrison returning to one of his childhood passions: this time rock 'n' roll. Growing up in Belfast shortly after World War II, he was immensely inspired by the heady sounds of 20th century blues and rock 'n' roll. Listening to artists such as Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers, it wasn't long until Van was intuitively reinterpreting these sounds with his own band in local hometown venues. "Togetherness is the central theme in all the songs on this record," shares Franti. "How do we get that feeling of togetherness, that feeling of closeness, that we so often overlooked and took for granted, but now has become so important? Not only just in terms of how we interact with each other in our neighborhoods or our personal relationships, but on a worldwide scale. How do we bridge these gaps so that people can feel close to one another again? (continue)
Grammy-nominated trio Semisonic released Little Bit Of Sun, their first full length album release in 22 years. Recorded in the band's native Minneapolis and including appearances from Jason Isbell and My Morning Jacket's Jim James, the album offers a deeply moving reflection on growth, gratitude, and commitment in the face of change and uncertainty. The collection also includes co-writes with Grammy-winning songwriters Lori McKenna and Amy Allen.
The 12 song collection marks the band's first full length album since 2001's All About Chemistry and follows their critically-acclaimed 2020 EP You're Not Alone. The songs walk a tightrope between raw energy and tender beauty, balancing power pop muscle with acoustic intimacy. Bassist John Munson and drummer Jacob Slichter's performances are finely tuned to match, infusing Wilson's bright, buoyant melodies with touches of melancholy and darkness that perpetually haunt the periphery. One of today's most theatrical rockers, Wicked, has announced the release of their newest album, 'Sunburn,' to be released in March of 2024. And the band (singer/guitarist Chad Michael, guitarist Scotty V, bassist Danny, and drummer Gunnar) is especially pleased with their latest effort, as they explained in the statement:
"The new album 'Sunburn' is a deliberate e-brake in our music and state of the band. After years of doing 80 mph in a 30 with no hands on the wheel, we decided there was so much more to what we had to share musically. Produced by 10-time Grammy winner Ignacio Molino, released through The Orchard and accompanied by 5 singles / videos, the album bares an authentic reflection on the highs and lows of being in a relentlessly hard-working rock band with all the euphoria and pain along the way. We looked inside for inspiration and made an album for us and not anyone else. Don't miss the blend of inspirations from Third Eye Blind to Thin Lizzy and everything in between, the personified characters from each single like the 'Gorgeous' robot girl, and the cinematic destination music videos. Before you know it, you'll be 'living like a Sunburn!'" (continue)
The Peter Jackson directed music video for The Beatles' "Now And Then", has been released following yesterday's release of what is billed as the legendary band's "final song".
The visual marks Jackson's very first time producing a music video. He said of the adventure, "When Apple asked me to make the music video, I was very reluctant - I thought my next few months would be a hell of a lot more fun if that tricky task was somebody else's problem, and I could be like any other Beatles fan, enjoying the night-before-Christmas anticipation as the release of a new Beatles song and music video approached - in 1995, l loved the childlike excitement I felt as the release of Free As A Bird was inching closer. I could have that experience once again - all I had to do was say no to The Beatles. (continue)

Bad Wolves have premiered a visualizer video for their new single "Savior" to celebrate the release of their brand new studio album, "Die About It", which is now available via Better Noise Music.
"From the artwork to the music our new album feels more personal," says John Boecklin. "This album is about us surviving through lawsuits, the member changes, the online hate, and the false narratives. We wanna bring back the energy of us making music because we want to, not all the other crap. The album title is a sarcastic statement towards those debating online in turmoil, defending or pushing their own beliefs to the point of absurdity. If you're gonna cry about it, then you might as well 'Die About It.' Leave us out of it." (continue)
Deathcore juggernaut Carnifex have announced their 'Necromanteum EU/UK Tour' for Spring 2024. The band will be joined by labelmates Aborted, as well as Revocation and Vexed, as they prepare to showcase tracks from their latest record, Necromanteum, to European and UK fans for the first time.
Carnifex recently released their latest album, Necromanteum, through Nuclear Blast Records. The recording process for Necromanteum took place over the course of several weeks with producer Jason Suecof in Florida and saw the return of live drums since COVID-19 restrictions made doing so on Graveside Confessions impossible. Mastered by Mark Lewis in Nashville, TN, the album was also co-produced by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron. The cover artwork glows with an emerald and lavender fog; a ghostly energy erupting from the depths of a cemetery. Designed by renowned comic book artist E.M. Gist, this gateway represents the questions we ask about what lies on the other side of reality. (continue)

Rock legends Queen have released a brand new episode of their 50-week YouTube series The Greatest Live. This week's episode "Stone Cold Crazy" shows the band revisiting an iconic 1974 show at the Rainbow Theatre.
Here is the synopsis: For aspiring British musicians of the '70s, all roads led to London's legendary Rainbow Theatre. In 1974, Queen reached that milestone as they stepped up to headliner status - and as this November 1974 archive footage shows, they seized the opportunity with a searing performance of this hard-rocker from Sheer Heart Attack. The footage is notable as marking the first time Queen were professionally filmed live in concert. (continue)

King Crimson's "In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson At 50" documentary By Toby Amies is coming to select US theaters opening November 3rd!
Just as King Crimson has been, for more than half a century, an atypical rock band, this film is a refreshingly atypical music documentary. A film about the sacrifices we need to make to bring things of beauty and meaning into the world. But with jokes. (continue)
Los Angeles alternative rock 4-piece Gale Forces has released its second studio full-length "Highlights Of Existence", along with a video for the album's title track.
Of the video, front man Jade Devitt says, ""Highlights of Existence" channels the energy of our primary need for connection. The realization that we're never that far apart when we sit down and raise a glass around a fire, or in the backyard. What's at stake is the quality of our lives and the ability to problem solve, by the better angels of our nature." "Reach in and tie the rose, melting the callous of your heart" sums up a desperate summons for more." (continue)
On Being An Angel released their brand new single "Playin It Cool" today, November 3rd, and to celebrate we asked Paige to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
The song came together after our guitarist Nick sent me the riffs and I just kinda sat around humming along over and over till the words kinda started filling into the melody. We then built it up more at the next full band practice; we added an intro with Nick's solo #1 before jumping into the back-beat verse. I had written the verse & "pre-chorus" but then decided I wanted something more for the chorus. We all laughed when we decided the technical "chorus" would only be played once in the song. I added the lil bridge at the end and figured what better way to wrap it up than to end with solo #2. (continue)
