Job For A Cowboy have announced that they will be releasing their first new full-length album in a decade, entitled "Moon Healer", which will released on February 23rd, 2024 by Metal Blade Records.
Here is the official announcement: Moon Healer is a vivid illustration of what happens when creativity, aggression, and volatility tangle for the first time in years. Like the band's critically adored, 2014-released Sun Eater full-length, Moon Healer is musically multifaceted, unabashedly brutal, and compellingly conceptual. Featuring a newly refreshed and reinspired lineup of frontman and co-founder Jonny Davy, guitarists Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman, bassist Nick Schendzielos, and drummer (since 2020) Navene Koperweis, the band seamlessly picks up the mantle where Sun Eater left off.
But why the extended wait? "I had to take a step back in the band for family. It was the catalyst that eventually created a fork in the road for all of us. We all drifted into our separate paths," explains Davy. "Fatherhood, additional music projects, academic degrees, and careers outside the band took priority and life's focus." So the band agreed on a prolonged hiatus, but with the door open for a return. "Everything lined up for us to collaborate on a new project together; it was time to cross the threshold for something new." (continue)

Consequence described the recent tour as a "multifaceted performance" that "extends far beyond music." The San Antonio Current dubbed the offering as "exceptional, combining synth-heavy, melodic songs with beats that are somehow danceable but often based in progressive rock-driven time signatures." The new 2023 mix of this classic track is taken from The Kinks' 1974 studio concept album Preservation Act 2, and has been mixed by Ray Davies and Matt Jaggar at Konk Studios in London. Ray Davies says the track is about "Moral decline." Dave Davies comments: "Always amused me when we did it live. An exceptional song I think". Drummer Mick Avory fondly recalls: "I have memories of playing this song on the US tours in the 70s. It's a good old stomper for the stage."
Following the release of The Journey - Part 1 in March this year (featuring hits such as "You Really Got Me," "Waterloo Sunset," "All Day And All Of The Night," "Supersonic Rocket Ship" and "Dead End Street") The Journey - Part 2, compiled by the band, will be available on 2CD, 2LP, Digital and HD Digital formats. Dance Gavin Dance have dropped brand new standalone single called "War Machine" the track can be streamed online and is accompanied by an official visualizer.
"War Machine" follows previously released standalone single, "The Ghost of Billy Royalton", which the band released on the eve of their hugely successful, mostly sold-out Jackpot Juicer headline tour as a tribute to their late bassist and dear friend, Tim Feerick, who tragically passed away last year.
Rejecting tired formulas at every step, Dance Gavin Dance merge progressive rock and post-hardcore with thick groove, brilliantly combining experimental music with hooks and a warped sense of humor. The group has amassed over 1.6 billion global streams, and 1.4 million album equivalent units sold across their catalog in the US alone. With hundreds of thousands of rabid fans engaged with Dance Gavin Dance on socials and their very own festival event, Swanfest, which sold out both its inaugural edition in 2019, its triumphant, post-pandemic return in 2022 in the band's hometown of Sacramento last April and it's first ever East Coast iteration earlier this month, it all amounts to a full force band facing a mainstream that has overlooked them for too long. Stryper frontman Michael Sweet took to social media to share the bad news that he will be undergoing surgery in December to remove part of his thyroid after a "slow growing cancer" discovered.
Sweet shared via Instagram, "Hello my friends, I wanted to give you all an update on my eyes and my thyroid. First, my eyes are actually doing fairly well right now. My right eye is still attached (after 2 detachments and 4 surgeries) and although there is still some retinal swelling, I'm very thankful that I did not lose my vision in that eye.
"They will continue to observe both eyes (my left eye has two tears and lots of floaters) and I do feel that I have been blessed to be able to retain vision at this point [prayer emoji]
"Regarding my thyroid nodules, unfortunately my left side was biopsied and came back 95% suspicious of cancer. Because I'm a singer, my local doctor recommend that I see a specialist since the risk of vocal nerve damage is at a higher risk during a thyroidectomy. (continue)
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar says that he is disappointed that dysfunction in the band has reportedly prevented the suggested tribute concert to late guitarist Eddie Van Halen from happening.
The Red Rocker was asked if he thinks the special concert will ever take place during a new interview with the Rock Of Nations With Dave Kinchen And Shane McEachern podcast.
He responded, "As far as the tribute goes, I'm so disappointed how they've handled everything, including when I left the band, what they did, and that. I don't know, the dysfunction in that band. When I was in the band the first nine years, we got along like fricking brothers and sisters and we were happy together and one big family. Things went wrong. Drugs and alcohol are a bad thing when it turns ugly, and it's just never been the same. (continue)
Dokken have shared a music video for their brand new single 'Over The Mountain', which comes from their 13th studio album, "Heaven Comes Down," that is out this week via Silver Lining Music.
"'Over The Mountain' is a metaphoric song lyrically about people searching for better times and better days" explains Don Dokken. "It seems everybody is always looking for their Shangri-La."
"My studio in the Sangre de Cristo mountains has wrap-around windows staring at three mountains ranges and the city lights of Santa Fe below," continues Don. "Your environment affects what you write. I'm not staring at a black soundproof wall, I'm looking out ten windows where I can see Sandia, Ortiz and Jemez mountains, looking at the sunset every day, purple, yellow and pink, and it affects you... very inspiring." Taking Back Sunday have shared "Keep Going," the fourth and final preview track from their upcoming new album 152, due Friday, October 27 via Fantasy. Reflecting the darkness in betrayal and the light of forgiveness, the percussive, quick-hitting rocker arrives just days ahead of the band's long-awaited LP 152, Taking Back Sundsy's first full-length album in seven years.
Mark O'Connell says, "'Keep Going' is a song about struggling through relationships with the people you love. When it rains, it pours, but you've got to get up and keep going. It's a heavy song with an important message that fits the inclusive positivity of 152."
Produced by Tushar Apte (whom the band met through a mutual collaboration with noted DJ Steve Aoki) and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers), 152 features 10 intensely vulnerable and absorbing new tracks all delivered with fresh ambition and newfound purpose. Inspired by the long layoff and the cloud of uncertainty that blanketed the world (and music industry) these past few years, 152 stands among the most genuinely reflective and emotionally pure efforts of Taking Back Sunday's illustrious career. Orange Country, Ca singer-songwriter Ryan Terrigno is gearing up to release his debut album "Alive & Well" this Friday, (October 27th), and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the song "Get Lost". Here is the story:
The first single released from my debut, forthcoming solo album is called "Get Lost". It was released on May 12th, 2023. It's an indie-pop anthem with huge, stomp-clap choruses, and heartfelt, acoustic verses. I've chosen to write about it today because it holds a specific relevance to my musical career, and thus, a special place in my heart. I've been writing songs since I was 16 years old - which, by my math, means I've been doing it for about 23 years! By the time I graduated high school, I already had my first rock band up & running, and would spend the next 12 years dedicating all of my heart, soul, and energy to making music a full-time gig.
By 2013, when the dust began to settle on the second of my two bands breaking up, I came to that age-old fork in the road where I had to decide: Do I keep living in this world of uncertainty that a life in music can bring, or do I settle down and find myself something more stable in order to secure a future for my wife & I? So there I was - 29 years old and ready to hang up my guitar and start my new life as a professional career man. As fate would have it, I stumbled face-first into an interesting gig at a local tech startup - by way of a random Craigslist ad that I found early in my job hunt. Little did I know at the time, but this accidental job would become my life & career for the next 10+ years. (continue)
