"With "Edge of an Echo" we tried to capture the idea of being present in the moments we fear," the band elaborates. "Allowing ourselves to embrace the regrets and mistakes as they unfold. Finding strength in vulnerability and comfort in the reflections we're sometimes destined to face. We took a lot of chances with this song, both musically and stylistically. (continue)
Emo/pop-punk project Youth Fountain, the brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Tyler Zanon, has released its latest single, "Identical Days", out now via Pure Noise Records. Zanon remains brutally honest in this new track, chronicling the state of gray monotony bound in a depressive cycle and the difficulty that comes with trying to break out of it.
"Youth Fountain's forthcoming 3rd studio album, Together In Lonesome, is set to drop on November 3rd. "'Identical Days' is written about how every day can feel the exact same when going through depressive episodes and how anything I do, even reaching out to people, doesn't make it feel any better. I felt a huge sense of never being able to belong anywhere when writing this track," admits Zanon. (continue)
END will release their second album The Sin of Human Frailty on October 27 via Closed Casket Activities. Today, the band has shared the video for "Thaw," featuring Heriot's Debbie Gough.
"'Thaw' is a thematically more bizarre exploration into electronics for END," the band shares. "It's a very boundary-less song and one of the more self-fulfilling moments found in the writing process. As a musician, it's important to express the purest intent of your thoughts, and sometimes that requires reaching beyond the normal instrumentation one is accustomed to. The result is something new for us, but also a part of us. Thank you to Debbie Gough of Heriot for lending her voice to the track. And thank you for giving this new creative passage a listen." The original album and single discs are cut from the original analog tapes, while lacquers for the complete set were cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Both the CD and LP editions will feature an expansive book with new liner notes by journalist and Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, complete with interviews with Violent Femmes members Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie, and Victor DeLorenzo.
Reflecting on the album's 40th anniversary, bassist Brian Ritchie shares: "I am frequently stopped on the street by people who tell me, 'Your album changed my life,' or some variant. I don't have to ask, 'Which album?' because it is implied that they're talking about the first one. The uncanny thing is that these people range from early teens to septuagenarians, and they all have the same testimony." Ritchie adds, "Sometimes music is more than just a pleasing sound that entertains. It takes on greater meaning. Multiple generations have found the songs to be relevant in their life situations. Some people say they had sex for the first time listening to it (which I find appalling but whatever) and someone even said, 'I was conceived to your music.' Wow." (continue)

There's a sensual sting in the air via the brand new single "Viper Room" from Melbourne rock powerhouses Thornhill, out today via UNFD. A palpitating fusion of swagger, driving beats, and swooning melodics alongside razor-sharp guitars, "Viper Room" is Thornhill at their most potent to date, drawing to mind the feverish urgency of early Muse with the trademark Thorny rock 'n' roll wizardry.
Also accompanied by a brand new music video featuring a lurid narrative worthy of Hollywood's own infamous club of the same name, "Viper Room" lavishly introduces the first new Thornhill material since their ARIA-nominated 2022 album Heroine - and it's a theatrical rock masterstroke. (continue)
German dark rock unit Lord Of The Lost revealed a new official music video for "One Last Song", the emotional closing track of their current #1 charting album 'Blood & Glitter'! Vocalist Chris Harms, inspired by the thought of what song he would like to be the last he sings before he dies, "One Last Song" is likely to be the most important song he has ever written. The music video is consequently set in a church where Chris' funeral is staged - including a flashback to his own nursery.
Lord Of The Lost has successfully skyrocketed this year - the band represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in May, supported Iron Maiden on tour for the second time, played many great slots at huge summer festivals, and sold out several of their own headlining shows. The band is not slowing down, and has countless live shows coming up still this year, including remaining "Blood & Glitter'' tour dates, three shows as special guests for Powerwolf, and their own Lordfest.
