Every legend has a beginning, and for those who have closely followed the massively successful career of British new wave group, Duran Durn, the name T.V. Eye is often greeted with reverential awe. For within T.V. Eye lay the very seeds that would form the future group whose music has become as recognizable and beloved as any from Britain's second musical invasion.
Birmingham, England - the Moseley School of Art - a dynamic young performer by the name of Andy Wicket, inspired less by the three Rs (reading 'riting, 'rithmatic) than the three Ss (Sex Pistols, Stones, Stooges), formed a group named after a track from The Stooges' 1970 album Funhouse, T.V. Eye. The group quickly became the talk of the Birmingham underground rock scene, such that when a young John Taylor and Nick Rhodes went looking to find a new vocalist for their own fledgling group (named after a character, Dr. Durand Durand, in the sci-fi cult film Barbarella) he convinced Wickett to leave T.V. Eye to join their band. Remarkably, the outgoing Duran Duran vocalist, Stephen Duffy, then assumed Wickett's role in T.V. Eye, renaming the group The Hawks. (continue)
On December 17 of this year, Breakfast With The Beatles will broadcast its 2080th weekly episode during its 40th consecutive year on the air in Los Angeles. This extraordinary milestone is concurrent with the 60th anniversary of the birth of Beatlemania in the US, when "I Want To Hold Your Hand" started receiving regular airplay a few months in advance of the band's first stateside tour. Breakfast With The Beatles, now on KLOS and hosted by Chris Carter, is the longest continually running Beatles-themed radio program in the world.
Original host Deirdre O'Donoghue created Breakfast with the Beatles (BWTB) in mid-December 1983 on KMET in Los Angeles, eventually moving to KLSX. After O'Donoghue's untimely passing in 2001, the show was hosted "audition-style" by several guest hosts including Chris Carter who was then overwhelmingly voted-in by show listeners. In 2006, BWTB moved to its current home at KLOS-FM and is heard every Sunday from 9:00 AM to Noon. Shortly after the move, Carter made his SiriusXM radio debut in 2008, bringing BWTB first to Little Steven's Underground Garage channel and then, in 2017, being chosen by The Beatles Channel to host the show weekday mornings at 8:00 AM ET. This is not simply a re-broadcast of the KLOS show, but a completely separate entity with unique playlists. Add to that Carter's British Invasion show on SiriusXM (Saturdays at Noon ET, rebroadcast Sundays at 4:00 PM ET on Little Steven's Underground Garage channel) and he is playing The Beatles almost literally eight days a week. Chris Carter conservatively estimates he has played The Beatles and Beatles-related songs more than a quarter million times on terrestrial and satellite radio combined, making him an unofficial record holder of sorts. Steely Dan's 1977 multi-platinum jazz-rock masterwork, Aja, has been remastered from analog and will be reissued on vinyl for the first time in more than four decades on September 29th via Geffen/UMe. Aja marks the latest release in Geffen/UMe's extensive reissue program of Steely Dan's classic ABC and MCA Records catalog, which returns the band's first seven records to vinyl - most of which haven't been available since their original release. Overseen by founding member Donald Fagen, the series launched in November 2022 with the group's legendary 1972 debut, Can't Buy A Thrill, followed by 1973's Countdown To Ecstasy in May 2023. The band's beloved third album, 1974's Pretzel Logic, was just released last month.

Gibson is proud to announce it will officially open a new Gibson Garage in London. The Gibson Garage is the ultimate guitar experience and destination for music lovers across the globe, and the place to explore Gibson's 130-year music history. The Gibson Garage London marks the first-ever Gibson flagship store outside of the U.S. and follows the wildly successful opening of the Gibson Garage Nashville.
Cesar Gueikian, Gibson President and CEO, states, "When we first began designing the Gibson Garage, our global flagship, we asked ourselves, 'What do we want our fans to experience when walking into Gibson?' We imagined an immersive dream space where fans walk in and say, 'Wow, this is the place that Gibson should have always had!' The Garage we built in Nashville is an exciting place to experience Gibson music and lifestyle through instruments, sound, media, and apparel. The Garage is designed to be a part of the local music community with a live stage featuring performances and events from icons and emerging artists on any given day of the week. The Gibson Garage in Nashville has had an extraordinary impact on the music scene in addition to becoming a global music destination and we are thrilled to bring the Garage to London. As one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, London has always been an influential musical ecosystem and became an obvious choice of where to open our next Gibson Garage." (continue)

Earsplit shared these details: KRIEG's Ruiner is the first full-length from the long-running and iconic cult since 2014's Transient and is a despondent expression that captures the classic band complexion which has solidified the band as a vanguard and pioneer of US black metal. Although Ruiner is the band's first full-length album in nine years, KRIEG has continued to remain active leading up to its long-awaited release through various splits, collaborations, and EPs. Julian Talamantez Brolaski just released a new album called "It's Okay Honey." To celebrate, Julian tells us about the song "Goin to Nashville." Here is the story:
"Goin to Nashville" is the story of a singer who dreams of going to Nashville to become a country musician ("I'm goin to Nashville, gonna be a star / And when they ask me just what I are / I'll say I'm a country singer, a writer and a rambler"). The song is "partly truth and partly fiction" as Kris Kristofferson says in "The Pilgrim" ["He's a poet, he's a picker / He's a prophet, he's a pusher / He's a pilgrim and a preacher, and a problem when he's stoned / He's a walkin contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction, / Takin ev'ry wrong direction on his lonely way back home."
