The Eagles founding bass player Randy Meisner, best known for his lead vocals on the band's classic hit "Take It To The Limit", died on Wednesday (July 26th) at the age of 77.

Meisner cofounded the band with Bernie Leadon, Don Henley and Glenn Frey and played on the group's first five studio albums before leaving the band in late 1977. (continue)

The Offspring, have shared the second episode of their podcast Time to Relax with The Offspring, featuring special guest, Joe Escalante of The Vandals. The Pretenders have shared “A Love,” the new single from their forthcoming studio album, Relentless. An official visualizer – featuring exclusive footage of the legendary band’s recent live run at small UK clubs – is streaming on YouTube. Relentless arrives via Rhino Records on Friday, September 15.

“I suppose ‘A Love’ is the most traditionally Pretenders-sounding song on the album,” says Chrissie Hynde, “in the vein of ‘Kid’ or ‘Talk of the Town’ or any of the mid-tempo ones over the years. I often see love/relationships almost in the same vein as drug addiction. Although, having said that, I know I am jaded and cynical…” (continue)

Raleigh, NC-based alt-rock outfit Silence & Light are comprised of veterans representing all four branches of the military: rhythm guitarist Jason Everman (ex-Nirvana, Soundgarden) is a former Army Ranger and Special Forces solider, lead guitarist Brad Thomas is a former Delta Force Operator, bassist Tyson Stahl is a former Marine Raider, vocalist Fred Cowell is an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and drummer Justin Myers is a Navy veteran.

The band released their second full-length album COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA… on June 23 which they co-produced with Dick Hodgin (Hootie & The Blowfish, Corrosion of Conformity). (continue)

Roots of a Rebellion's Austin Grimm recently released his "Walk A Mile" solo EP. We asked him to tell us about the title track to celebrate. Here is the story:

I love all kinds of music but what hits me the hardest is Classic Country and Roots Reggae music--two genres that seem completely different upon first glance but, with a closer look, reveal similar themes of morality, adversity, and humility--all woven together through beautiful storytelling. My name is Austin Grimm and after spending a decade leading the Nashville band Roots of a Rebellion (or ROAR), I've found time to explore this passion project of mine that started with "Dank Williams: Volume 1" in 2020 and was just followed up with the Walk A Mile EP in 2023.
