Although both the Band of Heathens and the producers of Austin City Limits are based in Austin, ACL executive producer Terry Lickona first saw the band while in Nashville for the 2008 Americana Music Festival and Conference.

Blind Guitarist Joey Stuckey To Release New EP |
You can't travel down south without hearing someone rave about guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, radio and TV personality Joey Stuckey, who holds the distinction of being the Official Ambassador of Music for Macon, Georgia (home of the 'southern sound'). Joey Stuckey is an award-winning blind guitarist, songwriter, singer, composer, producer, radio & TV personality, music columnist, inspirational speaker, educator and sound engineer. Joey's guitar style is reminiscent of rocker Jeff Beck and a jazzier Wes Montgomery, while his vocal influences range from Mel Torme to Gregg Allman. He has also worked with the likes of Hughie Thomasson (from Lynyrd Skynard and the Outlaws), David Ragsdale (from Kansas and The Smashing Pumpkins), Randall Bramblett (from Traffic, Steve Winwood Band and Gregg Allman Band), Carol King and Ike Turner to name a few.
"This little jazz EP is four tunes that have been laying around for about two years now," says Joey. "I recorded them just when I had some time for myself, not very often as I work so much for others. Anyway, The EP is called 'Ocean Side' and is a little slice of summer magic. The music is all reminiscent of the beach and easy living. Just in time for the cold winter of 2009 comes some bright and warm sunshine courtesy of jazz music." (Along with the release of 'Ocean Side', Stuckey will be re-releasing as a download his second CD 'Ironies, Pain and the Light That Guides'.)

Deadwalk Tease New Album |
"With this record we wanted to find a solid mix of modern hardcore and brutal breakdowns. We basically wrote an album that we as a band would want to listen to," commented Deadwalk's Greg Kepka. "By keeping it short and sweet we also don't let the album wind down so the intensity keeps going up and up over the course of the disc's 10 tracks. We hope to basically thrust ourselves into the limelight with this record and prove to people that Deadwalk is still something to be reckoned with!"
Deadwalk's debut album, "Scandalous", was recorded at Red Dusk Studio with producer Mat Laperle (Blind Witness) and features a guest appearance by Stick To Your Guns frontman Jesse Barnett on the track "Frailty". The album is scheduled for a November 24th, 2009, release through Year of the Sun Records.
Never Shout Never Set Hot Topic Exclusive |
The EP features two songs from Never Shout Never's upcoming eight-song mini-album for Loveway Records/Sire ("Jane Doe" and "What is Love?"), a live track ("Big City Dreams" from 2008's The Yippee EP), and a b-side ("She's Got Style"), plus two music videos ("On the Brightside" from 2009's The Summer EP and a live video of "Trouble" a song from 2009's Me & My Uke EP that was shot in Grand Rapids, MI, in July).
Physical copies of the new EP will be available for purchase exclusively at Hot Topic stores nationwide. The digital version will be available for purchase from all digital service providers on December 15th, as well as through www.shockhound.com and www.nevershoutnever.com.
Scale The Summit Hitting The Road With Between The Buried And Me, Cynic and Devin Townsend |
Guitarist Chris Letchford commented; "We're touring with Between The Buried And Me, Cynic and Devin Townsend! We have been wanting to tour with Between The Buried And Me for years now. The second I heard news of Cynic reforming and hearing their amazing new album, I never thought a package like this would come together, very glad their back! Then there is Devin Townsend. The last time I saw Devin play was with Strapping Young Lad when I was 16, which was over 9 years ago! Never would have thought we'd tour together. This tour is not one you'll want to miss. Best tour of 2010 by far!"
The band will also be doing a show with label mates, and fellow progressive tech kings, Animals As Leaders in Dallas, at the House Of Blues on November 17, which happens to be an off day for Animals As Leaders on their fall leg of the Between The Buried And Me tour. Veil Of Maya are also on the bill.

Mumford & Sons Go to Glassnote |
"We're thrilled and proud to welcome Mumford & Sons to the Glassnote Family," says Glassnote President Daniel Glass. "They are an incredible Band that can fill a pub or an arena with their unique and soulful sound."
On their debut, Mumford & Sons have created a gutsy, banjo-driven, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills & Nash with the might of Kings of Leon and the harmonies of Fleet Foxes. Recorded with producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Bjork) at Eastcote Studios, where Arctic Monkeys, Brian Eno, Tindersticks and Laura Marling have honed their sound, Sigh No More was recently released in the UK to much critical acclaim. The album debuted in the UK iTunes Top 10 recently and is being lauded by tastemaker publications such as NME ("A band who know they're onto something not just good, but spectacular") and Q Magazine ("A record that swings from arresting fragility to hearty dynamics"), to name a few. The first single, "Little Lion Man," is already being boasted as "The Hottest Record In The World" by Radio 1's Zane Lowe, and the band has been longlisted for the BBC Sounds Of 2009 Poll, which features the most promising new music talent.
