Foo Zeppelin Queens Group Them Crooked Vultures Spill Some Details |
Antiquiet: I heard this came together at a renaissance-themed birthday party? - Josh Homme: Yeah, well Dave, he mentioned this idea, and we're always looking for a chance to do stuff together, Dave and I. So he said, "you know what, maybe I should ask John Paul Jones!" And I was like, "that'd be awesome. And I'll ask The President. And we can put it all together." And then all of a sudden he starts sending me emails, of correspondence between him and Jones, and I was like 'uhhhh well ----. What do I do?'
I hadn't played guitar for five months, and I was gonna maybe take a break for a second, for my first time in a long time. But then [Dave] has his birthday party at Medieval Times, and of course he sat us right next to each other. That was the blind date. But he sat in the next row behind us, like looking over (laughing) But you know, I think it's fairly common to meet someone from Zeppelin at Medieval Times.
Antiquiet: What's going on with the album? - Josh Homme: Well, we just finished figuring out what songs we're going to put on it, which took a little bit of time. We couldn't decide what [we wanted] to do. Do you make a triple album? An EP? How many songs is too much?
I tend to think that even if you've got a bunch of good songs, maybe you should err on the side of brevity, and keep it tight. But we really enjoy lots of songs, so we couldn't decide.

Hate Gallery Member Violently Attacked And Arrested |
However this was just the start. "I managed to make it into the middle of the street and was relieved to see that a police car had just pulled up. I tried to explain what had happened but before they could take a statement the bouncers rushed me and grabbed me again, this time with considerably more force. I pleaded with the police to stop them but they just stood back. They looked like they were panicking and didn't seem to know what to do or they were 'friends' with the bouncers. Luckily some more police turned up and they kindly arrested me and took me away.
"I cannot believe how incompetent and incapable the Stockholm police were of protecting a member of the public from this kind of assault. Members of the police force that I spoke to later were amazed and embarrassed that members of their own department did absolutely nothing.

I was told my condition was a severe lung infection that my body has not been able to fight, due to the tour schedule we've been dealing with and the nonstop lifestyle that I live just trying to make things happen for the band and so I can tour.
Bottom line is the doctors have told me I've pushed myself to the limit and was lucky enough to get treatment before this turned into full blown pneumonia. Having been told that I am completely bummed to announce that we are going to be cancelling the remaining dates on the Sons Of A Sik World tour.

Inhale Exhale Week: Day One |
Ryland Raus: This is a story about a kid that struggles with suicide and many other trials. He escapes temporarily only to stumble upon major troubles as a grown man. It explains the feeling of deja vu that this man experiences. In the chorus of the song, it goes on to explain that "there's still hope" and to be careful to not "drown in what this world has told you".
John LaRussa: This song was a lot of riffs I had in my back pocket so to speak. It was riffs I would use for bridges of songs. I put parts a side that I think would bring a song together and that's what a lot of this song was. It was never intended for a sing but once it came together it became a favorite for us and the label.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
