Jimmy Page, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton Supergroup Project?
Led Zeppelin site Lemon Squeezings has a speculative article connecting members of Aerosmith with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page in a new supergroup project. Read and decide for yourself: While nobody knows what's happening with Aerosmith, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have apparently been keeping busy, and in good company too.

Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin ) have joined them in recording with engineer Kevin Shirley, the man behind the sound of Led Zeppelin's 21st century releases, How the West Was Won, DVD and the reissue of the soundtrack to The Song Remains The Same.

Shirley says he has been recording these guitarists and "many others." He hints toward some "high profile projects" about which he's been sworn to secrecy.

Writing from Malibu on his online diary today, Shirley spoke of a "supergroup" project. He said that come January he would be "producing what has the promise to be one of the most exciting 'supergroups' to come around in a long time" He adds, "But theory is just that until we see how the dynamics play out in the studio between these superb musicians. And of course the songs will make the real difference." - more on this story

Near Riot Leads To Record Exec Twitter Arrest
It isn't April 1st, but we still have a hard time believing this is real and not from the imagination of a modern day Orwell or Huxley. But it appears to be true and that truth is that a record executive was arrested for refusing to send out a twitter alert. While you'll see that he probably should have sent out the alert, a felony and several misdemeanor charges for failing to do so? We thought that only happens on Seinfeld.

It all started when a mall appearance by the current flavor of the month disposable teen pop singer turned ugly in Garden City, New York. Thousands of fans turned up for the in-store appearance a couple of hours before 15-year-old Justin Bieber was scheduled to appear. The crowd of young girls started pushing and shoving each other, with the near riot sending five people to the hospital (thankfully for only minor injuries).

It reportedly took the police two hours to restore order with the crowd, estimated at nearly 3,000, refused to leave the area because according to the New York Post, they "were reassured via Twitter that Bieber was going to show." The police then called on James Roppo, the senior vice president of sales at Island Def Jam Records, to help by sending out a Twitter update asking fans to leave. Roppo reportedly refused, for some unknown reason, and was arrested. He now faces a felony assault charge and misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of children, obstructing governmental administration, reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance, according to Newsday. - more on this story

Megadeth Crew Members Fired For Gig Problems
(Rock Radio) Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has sacked some of his touring crew after a club venue was unable to keep up with the band's power demands. The band played the Madison Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Friday night, using the in-house PA and lighting system. But due to the requirements of the Megadeth performance, the night was beset with power cuts.

And even though he acknowledges the audience enjoyed the show, and his crew are always professional, Mustaine is still going to replace some of them because, he says, the job is all about performance.

He explains: "We employ professionals and they know all our specifics before we even come to a city or venue. From me to management to the agent to all of our crew - we know better. So I don't understand how it happened - but rest assured it won't happen again. We have some people to buy plane tickets for and some people to replace." - more on this story

Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton Get Audiophile Remaster
(Nightwatcher) Audio Fidelity has just given one of the most influential albums in blues rock history the audiophile, 24 KT gold compact disc treatment with the release of John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers' 1966 classic 'Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton'.

Remastered in original mono from the original Decca LTD. master tapes, the recording was named # 195 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and has been for over four decades a go to primer of British Blues for guitarists world wide.

The Bluesbreakers, led by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist John Mayall, were formed in January 1963. Eric Clapton joined in 1965 just a few months after the release of their first album. It remains one of the key, seminal releases of the 1960s, and a highly influential record, as the sound of Clapton's Les Paul through an overdriven Marshall stack provided inspiration to a whole generation of blues-based electric guitarists and groups. Clapton's incendiary playing inspired graffiti saying "Clapton is God" on the streets of London. - more on this story

Creedence Clearwater Revisited Offer Up Christmas Song For A Cause
Doug "Cosmo" Clifford and Stu Cook of the legendary American musical group Creedence Clearwater Revival are pleased to be a part of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's charity CD Hope For The Holidays - Rockin' Christmas for a Cure.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section (drums and bass respectively) with their latest project Creedence Clearwater Revisited contributed a version of the Christmas classic "Run Rudolph Run" for inclusion on the compilation CD which serves to benefit the JDRF. The 27 track collection also includes holiday recordings from Weezer, Collective Soul, The Beach Boys, Jon Anderson of Yes, and others. "Run Rudolph Run," written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie, was first recorded by Chuck Berry in 1958. Creedence Clearwater Revisited's fresh take on "Run Rudolph Run" is one that gives the holidays a rousing, classic rock, swampy flair.

Juvenile diabetes (Type 1) is a devastating auto immune disease which can strike children and adults suddenly, but lasts a lifetime. Approximately 24 million Americans have diabetes and this number is on the rise. Evidence suggests that 1 in 3 Americans born in 2000 may develop some form of diabetes in their lifetime and, to date, there is no cure.

Hope for the Holidays is currently available at national retail outlets including Best Buy and can also be found on www.Amazon.com, www.CDBaby.com and is available for download on iTunes. All profits will benefit the JDRF. - Check out the CCR song here

Marley's Ghost Returns With New Album
Marley's Ghost will return from a three-year absence from recording with a new album, Ghost Town, due out February 23, 2010 on Sage Arts Records. The new album was produced by Cowboy Jack Clement, in whose Nashville home studio it was recorded. The cover was painted by acclaimed American watercolorist William Matthews.

The album follows Marley's Ghost's 2006 album Spooked, which was produced by Van Dyke Parks and featured a cover by R. Crumb. Of Spooked, No Depression remarked, "The band's eighth full-length in 20 years glides with deadpan sincerity through sea chanteys, perverted mountain gospel, country-rock, vintage pre-WWII pop, Jazz Age vamps, Dylan, western campfire songs, and a rib-tickling salute to 'the French Elvis,' Johnny Hallyday. Brilliantly sung and played, Spooked is a heady, subversive treat."

The latest development in the band's recording career may prove to be the crucial link for Marley's Ghost. Clement, the country music cornerstone whose career entwined with those of Jerry Lee Lewis, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and so many others, is the beloved dean of Nashville producers, and the presence of Marley's Ghost in his studio earned the band its first Music Row buzz. - more on this story
