Murder By Death Beginning New Album

Murder By Death will begin recording their fifth full-length studio album in December at Bloomington-based Farm Fresh Studios. The forthcoming as-yet-untitled disc will be mixed by Trina Shoemaker (who produced 2008's Red of Tooth and Claw, Vagrant) and is scheduled for release next spring.

Adam Turla, MBD's singer, songwriter, and guitarist wrote most of the new material during two weeks he spent alone deep in the woods of Appalachia. "With this record, we wanted to write a more versatile and manic album," said Turla. "We are going for doomier, more beautiful, even a few songs in major keys (rare for us)... the whole kit-and-caboodle."

Murder By Death recently returned from a national tour as main support for Gaslight Anthem and also released an instrumental soundtrack to accompany the science-fiction book, Finch, by author Jeff VanderMeer. Early this past summer the band learned that director Quentin Tarantino was a fan when he hand-picked "Comin' Home" (from Red of Tooth and Claw) for the Inglorious Basterds movie trailer. - more on this story

Todd Rundgren To Perform Classic Album In Full at Upcoming Dates

Todd Rundgren, is proud to announce the only West Coast live performances of his 1973 classic masterpiece, A Wizard, A True Star. AWATS has been long heralded by the rock press as a defining paradigm-shifting album, but until this year had incredibly never been performed in public in its entirety.

Couched within an elaborate stage extravaganza harkening back to the halcyon grandeur of 70's arena glam rock productions, but in an intimate theater setting, AWATS Live is a rare opportunity to capture rock history in a bottle.

Bob Seger Looks Back With New Release

Bob Seger will make his new album, Early Seger Vol. 1, available to Midwestern fans through Meijer, the Grand Rapids, Mich-based retailer with 190 supercenters located in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky.

The album, which features recently remastered versions of numerous classic Seger songs from the early 1970s and four previously unreleased recordings, will be available at Meijer's beginning November 24th. Starting the following Monday, November 30th, fans can purchase the CD or a full album download at the artist's recently re-launched website, http://www.bobseger.com, where snippets of each of the 10 songs can currently be heard.

The multi-Platinum rocker comes full circle with the album, returning to the Hideout Records label, which released his early singles and several of his early albums. In September, Seger entered Kid Rock's Allen Roadhouse studio and Yessian Studios in suburban Detroit to re-record elements of four previously unreleased tracks for the collection: "Gets Ya Pumpin'," "Star Tonight," "Wildfire" and "Days When the Rain Would Come." - more on this story

City Boy's Unreleased Final Album to Finally See The Light Of Day

Along the lines of 10cc, Be-Bop Deluxe, Roxy Music, Alex Harvey and countless other bands of the UK Art-Rock movement in the '70s and early '80s comes City Boy, who also garnered much attention. In the course of their history, City Boy released several albums to much critical praise from fans and music press across both sides of the Atlantic.

On November 10th foremost US reissue label Renaissance Records in conjunction with ItsAboutMusic.com (who have released all of the City Boy catalog) will be releasing the band's unreleased album from 1982 called 'It's Personal'.

Formed in the UK in the early 1970s, Lol Mason, Steve Broughton, Max Thomas and Mike Slamer were playing folk music in the Birmingham area. Towards the end of 1975 they were offered a contract by Phonogram records on the condition that they add drums and a bass. So Roger Kent and Chris Dunn were recruited. Although some critics wrote quite favorable reviews for 'City Boy' (1975) and 'Dinner At The Ritz' (1976), it was not until 1978 and their hit song "5-7-0-5" on the subsequent album 'Book Early' that the public began to take notice. The single went right into the Top 10 of the British charts, and the album entered the Top 30 in the album charts. - more on this story

Bleed The Dream's Brandon Thomas Returns With Phantom Communique

Phantom Communique, the Los Angeles four-piece formed by former Bleed The Dream singer Brandon Thomas, will begin selling its 4-song debut EP at all upcoming shows, giving concertgoers a taste of the band's forthcoming full-length debut.

Entitled The Wolf And The Sheep, the full length disc will be released February 23 2010. The band will play a local show with Key Club resident faves Steel Panther on Monday, November 23.

Phantom Communique was formed during a personal breaking point for vocalist Brandon Thomas. Having just parted ways with the successful but tumultuous band Bleed The Dream, with whom he had toured the world and released two full-lengths, Thomas was determined to flex his artistic muscles again, and quickly assembled the kind of ragtag misfits that would help bring his musical visions to fruition under the Phantom Communique banner. - more on this story

Behemoth Are Popular in Poland

Behemoth album, Evangelion turned gold in Poland! The album had its premiere on August, 7th and debuted on the second place on the Polish charts. During the next 3 weeks the album was located at no. 1 in Poland.
