Dredg 'Arrested' Onstage |
Two "police officers" interrupted the band's set to escort Hayes and Campanella offstage and issue arrest warrants for a vandalizing incident that happened the last time the band performed at the venue. Back then, bottles were broken outside the venue and, while the owner was mad and had police contact the band, they had no proof so charges were never officially pressed.
Flash forward to last week when the band returned to the scene of the crime as part of their month-long overseas tour in support of "The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion," bassist Drew Roulette decided to play a practical joke on Hayes and Campanella and hired actors in police outfits waiting to arrest them. Thankfully it all proved to be fun and games.

Bon Jovi Baseball Ad Song Case Appealed |
My lawsuit is based on what I believe was the defendants' use of my Boston baseball playoff song "Man I Love This Team" as a temp track in the production of a commercial for Major League Baseball. The audio portion of that commercial was performed by Bon Jovi. I believe that commercial--both the visual images and the Bon Jovi audio-were derived from my song.
I sent my song to the Red Sox and Major League Baseball and told them I had written another version called "Man I Really Love This Town." In basic legal terms, what I believe defendants did was make an "unauthorized derivative work." Their MLB "I Love This Town" campaign was one of the most expensive sports commercials in history.

Jerry Fuchs From LCD Soundsystem, !!!, MSTRKRFT, and The Juan MacLean Killed in Elevator Accident |
Jerry was born on December 30, 1974 in Marietta, Georgia. After attending the University of Georgia for graphic design, he left for New York in 1995 to join the band Vineland. His achievements were numerous as he became a New York fixture in the music scene, providing incredibly complex and energetic drumbeats that elicited wide praise and excitement from fellow musicians, critics and friends. On the rare occasion that he was not touring, Jerry did graphic design work for publications such as Chunklet and Entertainment Weekly. Throughout all of his endeavors and successes, Jerry remained one of the most humble and down-to-earth artists anyone could meet. His smile, and loving energy will be missed dearly, as will his talent and contributions to the music scene.
Jerry's family and friends request that you respect their privacy during this difficult time. Statements from Jerry's band mates, manager and DFA Records are

Bad Religion, Tenacious D, Filter, Death By Stereo Supergroup Kidney's Set Release |
The fact that Brooks drives the bus for both of these amazing bands should give you a good idea of the level that his group Kidneys is performing at. Featuring Brooks on vocals and guitar, Kidneys' live line up is rounded out by bassist John Spiker (Filter, Tenacious D) and Todd Hennig (Death By Stereo) giving the band an all-star line up that is a pleasure to experience in person.
For the creation of the bands first full length studio album Brooks manned the instrument ship solo, but did receive a little help from friend Monique Powell (Save Ferris) on back ground vocals. The result is a well-rounded release that will impress even the most hard to please listener with a unique sound that falls somewhere between the clever melodies and arrangements of early Elvis Costello and the hard driving power pop of the Decendents.

New W.A.S.P. CD Coming Sooner Than Expected |
The album - for which work began in February of this year - saw Lawless take a good look in the mirror about not only himself, but also the current state of the world. "As the recordings progressed, I found myself once again asking the question - 'Who am I?', but more specifically 'Who am I now, and where am I in my life?'" explains Lawless. "You all know that I've said repeatedly that any art: be it movies, painting or music should reflect its maker's vision of themselves, and the world around them at that precise moment of their lives. If they are indeed truthful with that art, it then gives the viewer or listener a pretty good snapshot inside the head and heart of the one creating it."
With the world in a state of flux due to a global financial meltdown, Lawless began doing some research, which led to the genesis of what became Babylon. "I went back and did a detailed study of the Book of Revelation and refreshed my memory with some pretty amazing reading. That reading inspires powerful images. Enough for me to take those images of the 6th chapter of Revelation and the four horsemen of the apocalypse and write "Babylon's Burning." "Babylon's Burning" is based on that imagery in the same way "Headless Children" was. It's an overview of what we allow ourselves to become and the consequences that befall us for the poor choices we make."
