Zakk Wylde Has More Blood Clots |
"To all our Black Label Family Worldwide, thanks for all the Get Wells. Every 48 hours in the ER to check my blood, had a CT scan today and have blood clots in each of my lungs as well as my leg. Can't sing because pushing can cause an embollism."
Just how serious can blood clots be? According to yourtotalhealth : Although most blood clots tend to dissolve on their own with no long-term problems, there are situations in which blood clots can cause medical problems.
Blood clots become dangerous when they block blood flow through an artery or vein. When a blood clot blocks blood flow to an artery in the heart or brain, a heart attack or stroke may result. Blood clots can also block veins and arteries throughout the body, causing diseases that range from varicose veins to a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.

Cops Called On Travis Barker, But It's Not Quite The Story You Read In The Tabs |
The gist of the story was that Barker was dropping off his two kids with his ex-wife, (former Miss USA/ reality show star, Shanna Moakler), but he refused to leave the kids with her without a certified nanny present because the car of someone he says is a pedophile was parked at her house. Apparently this person is in fact barred by court order from being near the children, according to WPRI's report (see below). An argument ensued and she called the cops.
According to WPRI, who obtained the police report from the Barrington RI. Police department, "Moakler provided the officers with the couple's court order that explained the children's visitation schedule. That order did not require that a nanny be certified, but did state that a particular person was not allowed near the children. The person's name is redacted from the police report. The report says that a vehicle registered to that person was parked outside the building. The officers said that person wasn't there at the time, but his wife was."
That's quite a different story than the one reported by the tabs, but you can read more details based on the actual police report and not unnamed trash media sources

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Denies Drunken Stage Fall |
What happened that night?: I don't really know. There was a torrential downpour and the guys [at the campground] said, "Look, it's still slippery." I watched myself on YouTube, and it could have been my knee buckling or any ankle. The last thing I remember before I hit the ground was people grabbing for me, but they couldn't reach me because of the barricade. At any other Aerosmith show I probably would've been caught and thrown back onto the stage naked and without jewelry [laughs]. I stood up and couldn't raise my arm and knew I'd broken something.
Care to comment on that clip [on a tabloid site] of you in a liquor store?: Oh, Jesus Christ. A good friend of mine and Joe's the brother of the guy who works on my house, my housekeeper passed away. I was at the funeral. And after the funeral, they're Italian and had a feast at the house, a wake, and I stopped at the liquor store and paid for the booze. I did not buy any for myself. It was never proven that I did. Some kid whipped out a phone and took a picture. Anything to sell papers. It was for the wake. I would do it over and over a million times.
He goes on to discuss some of the current politics within the band and more.

Bon Jovi Song Theft Claim Strikes Out |
Samuel Bartley Steele, 38, claimed in his copyright-infringement lawsuit that the rock 'n' roll dream team's "I Love This Town" from their 2007 studio album "Lost Highway" was a rip-off of his 2004 ode to the Red Socks, "Man I Really Love This Team."
In granting summary judgment last week to the New Jersey superstars, District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton found, "Applying the 'ordinary listener' standard, this court detects no musical similarity between the Steele song and the Bon Jovi song."

KISS Let Fans Vote For Tour Stops But Then Forget To Include The Top Vote Getting City |
lfpress.ca reported : KISS fans who voted online to win a contest to see the band play in their city got the short end of singer Gene Simmons', uh, tongue today. The car manufacturing capital of Canada was recently named the KISS capital after it beat out every major city in North America in an online competition. But when KISS' fall fan-routed tour schedule was released this morning, the 'Shwa wasn't even on the list. "I'm devastated," Oshawa councillor Robert Lutczyk said. "Gene told us personally that KISS would be in Oshawa. He said the top three in the contest are guaranteed a show." [and he believed Gene!] more
Of course, once you make a stink about something publicly about a PR conscience group like KISS, you might get some results. CBC reported on Tuesday that now the band "will play a show in the city on Oct. 7, Mayor John Gray told CTV. Gray said he spoke to KISS manager Doc McGhee and was told that the band will indeed perform in the city."

Saving Abel, Red, Pop Evil and Taddy Porter Go Back To School for Class of 2009 Tour |
The concept behind this new annual tour is to bring together rock artists who have achieved substantial TOP TEN hits at radio in the current calendar year. Each year, an unsigned band, a.k.a. "The Freshman," will be selected to open the show for the full tour, providing an opportunity that is nothing short of a launching pad. Each of the acts on the inaugural run outside of Taddy Porter (this year's "Freshman") is riding major airplay at radio, and could be touring as a headliner on their own. The submission process outlining eligibility for consideration to be "The Freshman" for the "CLASS OF 2010" tour will be unveiled soon.
Headliner Saving Abel is the first act in over three years to have three top five rock hits off their debut release. The band's debut singles" Addicted," "18 Days," and "Drowning (Face Down)" have delivered a massive fan base for the Corinth, MS. quintet. Saving Abel's biggest hit "Addicted," was a #1 rock hit, crossed over to peak at #7 on Billboard's Top 40 Airplay Chart and also sold over a million downloads. Both RED and Pop Evil have had hits in the Top 10 this year and are quickly becoming staples at rock radio as well.
Metal Guitarist Leaves Band To Learn How To Bury People |
Blabbermouth had this comment from the band: "When Quinn joined the band in 2006, he put his mortuary science schooling on hold. Since that time, we've played with Heaven & Hell, Candlemass, 3 Inches Of Blood, Kamelot, Doro and many more. Toured with Trouble, trekked around the North East, the South, the Midwest. Played Germany with Metal Church and partied in Los Angeles with, well... everyone else! He provided half the guitar for the 'Songs For The Lost' album (with the other half laid down by former Witch shredder Steve Pollick).
"Now Quinn's going back to school to become a funeral director and Icarus Witch will enter the next chapter in our twisted tale as we prepare to release our fourth CD in time for a full U.S. tour this winter."

Weird Al Leaks |
The music video for "Ringtone" was directed by Josh Faure-Brac and Dustin McLean from Current TV's popular series "SuperNews," which hosted its world-premiere last Friday night.
"Ringtone" is the fifth in a series of "leaks" which began last October with the release of "Whatever You Like," a parody of the T.I. smash hit with the same title. Beginning in June, Yankovic released four new original songs over a ten-week period, each with its own music video. Liam Lynch directed "Craigslist" (an homage to the Doors, featuring Ray Manzarek himself on keyboards); Divya Srinivasan animated "Skipper Dan" (a poignant tale of a promising actor who winds up bitterly working as a Jungle Cruise tour guide); the JibJab team helmed "CNR" (a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the superhuman powers of classic TV icon Charles Nelson Reilly); and the SuperNews crew tackled the new "Ringtone" video.
Singled Out: Ellsbeth |
First up Shannon Quamme (singer / songwriter) tells us about the song "Defy": This song is about a soldier who was the golden boy of his peers. He got cocky, ventured out on his own without telling anyone, wanting to play the big hero. But he got caught. In the end, his ego got him killed.
The underlying message simply being to stay humble, regardless of where you are at in life. Confident, but humble. Ego isn't confidence. It's peacocking. No one likes someone who is full of themselves. At the end of the day, it's always best just to keep it real.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
