First up Shannon Quamme (singer / songwriter) tells us about the song "Defy": This song is about a soldier who was the golden boy of his peers. He got cocky, ventured out on his own without telling anyone, wanting to play the big hero. But he got caught. In the end, his ego got him killed.
The underlying message simply being to stay humble, regardless of where you are at in life. Confident, but humble. Ego isn't confidence. It's peacocking. No one likes someone who is full of themselves. At the end of the day, it's always best just to keep it real.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
