PR reports: Irish singer/songwriter Gemma Hayes announced several upcoming U.S. tour dates today in support of her latest album, "The Hollow of Morning," which will be released on September 30 on Second Motion Records. Hayes will perform with Joe Jackson on select tour dates, accompanying the veteran performer at venues including the Warfield Theater in San Francisco and The Grove of Anaheim. Gemma will also open two sold-out shows for My Bloody Valentine at the Santa Monica Civic Center on October 1 and 2.
Gemma will perform songs off her latest album, which has already generated great buzz including Chromewaves hailing Hayes' song, "Out of Our Hands," as a "moment of glorious sonic oblivion." My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields contributes guitar on two tracks, including the current single, "Out of Our Hands," and the hauntingly melodic, "In over My Head." Wired echoed similar sentiments on their "Listening Post" blog by adding that, "the legendary guitarist's jagged chops on "Out of Our Hands" counter pose nicely with Gemma Hayes."' The album was co-produced by long-time collaborator David Odlum, who worked on Hayes' Mercury nominated debut, Night on My Side.

PR reports: Enigma's seventh studio album, Seven Lives Many Faces, will be released by Virgin/EMI on September 30 in two physical and digital configurations: a single CD and digital album, and an expanded Special Edition with five additional new tracks, available in a deluxe 2-CD package and digitally.
Created and produced by ENIGMA mastermind Michael Cretu, Seven Lives Many Faces debuts 18 years after Enigma's spectacular global debut in the fall of 1990 with "Sadeness, Part 1." An omni-cultural trip traversed in 12 chapters, Seven Lives Many Faces is an aural expedition that moves well beyond the scope of the familiar range of sound, broadening listeners' sonic horizon and challenging the musical status quo.
"The idea behind ENIGMA is to make the impossible possible," says Cretu. "As long as I don't repeat myself, I won't get bored. That's why I always have to start something new, invent things!"

Prosthetic Records reports: Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the addition of Syracuse N.Y.'s UNHOLY to the Los Angeles-based label's ranks. Currently writing material for the band's second full-length record, the forthcoming effort will be the follow-up to the band's debut, 'Blood Of The Medusa,' which saw a June 2007 release through Lambgoat Records.
"We're really excited to share our future with Prosthetic Records, I think we'll fit well with their roster of already great bands," UNHOLY guitarist Jonathan Dennison says. "We've been hard at work writing new material for our upcoming record with the addition of Billy Price on vocals, slated for spring of 2009. To say the least, this record will be very innovative and hard hitting...for extreme music fans everywhere!"
Featuring members of Path of Resistance, Another Victim, Godbelow, and Santa Sangre, UNHOLY most recently added Price to its ranks and the as-yet untitled effort will be the vocalist's recording debut with the band. Two pre-production tracks are available on the band's official MySpace page, while UNHOLY will enter Syracuse's Moresound Studios (Ed Gein) in November to record the forthcoming effort.

PR reports: The Renaissance Rock of Blackmore's Night, with legendary lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Candice Night, has been honored in Germany with a Golden Award for sales of its popular Castles And Dreams DVD.Blackmore's Night is currently enjoying success in the U.S. upon the recent release of its Secret Voyage CD (SPV) which stayed atop the Billboard New Age Chart for eight straight weeks.
Secret Voyage has been getting across-the-board raves due to its melding of Euro-Folk and Rock on songs that go back centuries. On the album, Night plays an assortment of instruments dating back to Renaissance times. It is this very eclecticism that has kept fans returning for this brew of shanties, beer drinking songs, madrigals and international melodic inventions from France, Germany, Russia, England and the United States.

PR reports: Toubab Krewe kicks off an extensive fall tour this week as they prepare to release their sophomore album, Live at the Orange Peel. The new album captures their outstanding 2008 New Year's run at the Orange Peel in their hometown of Asheville, NC."We've been developing our material live, as we tour, so recording our second album on stage was a natural way for us to capture our creative energy," says guitarist Drew Heller. "Live performance allows unexpected moments to occur -- audience and band energies interact in ways that can't be foreseen or simulated in a studio."
All of the songs are previously unreleased and continue to blend American rock 'n' roll with the West African musical traditions the band fell in love with on their travels to Mali, Guinea and Ivory Coast.

MMP reports: Today Metal Mind Productions presents reissue of Cerebral Fix's second studio album from 1990 entitled "Tower Of Spite". The reissue of "Tower Of Spite" is scheduled for 13th October 2008 in Europe and 25th November 2008 in USA (via MVD). Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc, limited to 2000 copies.
The DIY skate/thrash/grindcore approach of the previous album had been consigned to history and the band started afresh with an effort which was more composed, both musically and in terms of production quality - as would be expected from a switch to a major label. New digipak edition of the album includes 11 bonus tracks taken from the "Live at the Barrel Organ 20th March 1990 bootleg".

PR reports: Interesting way to announce a tour by not mentioning it beyond the subject heading but here is what we were sent: His second album in eight months, Juno-winning Hawksley Workman releases a power-packed follow up to Between the Beautifuls, with Los Manlicious. Originally intended as the rock-edged follow-up to 2005's gentle Treeful of Starling, Los Manlicious is a gritty underbelly with an itch to be scratched. Its dark places are shining examples of his artistry, and its soft spots are all the hard facts you need to cut a rug with.
January's release, Between the Beautifuls, spawned massive tours in both Canada and Europe, where Hawksley sold out bigger and better venues across the country including two magical nights at Danforth Music Hall.

A Real Fine Hole can be described as a coarse sound with gritty guitar chords and meat & potatoes drums. The tunes are full of snappy clever rhythms that make the entire disc very easy to listen to. (3 stars)
