Camp Freddy is a jam band featuring Billy Morrison, Dave Navarro, Matt Sorum, Donovan Leitch and Chris Chaney and they're in the midst of a five week residency on Thursday nights at The Roxy in Hollywood. Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum went to Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California on May 3 to speak to a full house of students. The event was hosted by music instructor Terry Newman as a special treat for students taking his history of rock classes. Sorum grew up in Mission Viejo and attended Mission Viejo High School before graduating from Silverado High School. He recalled his musical career starting at a very young age when in 1966 he saw The Beatles perform on "The Ed Sullivan Show". After seeing Ringo Starr play drums, he immediately asked his mother for a set of his own. more
