Here is a little more info on what it's all about from the organizer's website: Mighty Mic is a 9-day event at UCLA, consisting with Genocide Awareness Week, ending in a Human Rights Awareness Concert.
Our event coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of the 1948 Genocide Convention, founded by Raphael Lemkins, where the world first proclaimed its opposition to genocide and ethnic cleansing at the international level. The week will consist of events intended to promote awareness about past and present genocides. We are a group of students dedicated to social justice and human rights. Last year, we brought artists such as Peaches and the Fall of Troy among others.
