Warrant Vs Virgin No More

BW*BK reports: The Associated Press reports that the lead singer of the rock band WARRANT has settled a lawsuit with Virgin Records that accused the label of breaching a contract dealing with his musical compositions.

Attorneys on both sides told Superior Court Judge Richard Fruin on Monday they had resolved the case, but terms of the settlement were not made public.

Jani Lane, whose real name is John Oswald, filed the suit in August, seeking unspecified compensatory and general damages. Lane said he entered a deal with Virgin Songs Inc. in August 1988 in which he was to be paid royalties and other sums for his published compositions. - more on this story

Flotsam And Jetsam Dreams of Death Again

PR reports: Metal Mind Productions presents a digipak edition of the album "Dreams Of Death" by Flotsam And Jetsam - one of the most influential thrash metal groups ever! Digipak edition of the album will be available on 7th April 2008 (in Europe only).

After more than twenty five years now, Flotsam and Jetsam are still active on the metal scene and regularly deliver a solid amount of prime thrash annihilation. Jacko Stops Neverland Auction

AP reports: Michael Jackson reached an 11th-hour deal to refinance his troubled Neverland Ranch, his lawyer said Thursday, avoiding a public auction of the property that had been scheduled next week.

Jackson attorney L. Londell McMillan told The Associated Press the pop star has worked out a "confidential" agreement with Fortress Investment Group LLC allowing him to retain ownership of the famed property in Los Olivos, Calif.

The property was scheduled to be auctioned March 19 after Jackson went into default on the $24.5 million he owes on the 2,500-acre spread - more on this story

WFUV Testing Indie Format

PR reports: Influential New York City radio station WFUV (90.7 FM and wfuv.org) will test-drive its forthcoming new music radio channel with a special program debuting on Mondays, March 17th and 24th from 10:00 PM to midnight. The program, called This Is Only A Test, will preview the new channel, which debuts later this year on a full-time basis and will feature established and emerging New York City-based indie rock and other styles. This Is Only A Test will air on 90.7 FM and wfuv.org as a kind of open-source experiment to engage listeners in shaping the future service.

A companion to WFUV's highly acclaimed flagship programming, which will continue in its present format, the new channel will provide the city's burgeoning indie music scene with a full-time local radio outlet and connect artists and music lovers in New York and across the globe. The new channel will be available at wfuv.org and on HD Radio at 90.7 FM in the New York City area beginning in Fall 2008. The channel is supported in part by The New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Disgorge Reissue

PR reports: On 7th April 2008 Metal Mind Productions will release a digipak edition of the album "Parallels of Infinite Torture" by Disgorge.

The origins of Disgorge date back to 1992 when Bryan Ugartechea, Tony Freithoffer and Ricky Myers started what was to become one of California's most brutal death grind bands.

The fourth and most recent album was originally released by Crash Music in 2005. The album features a new vocalist Levi Fuselier, who favors deep, guttural, demonic growl trademarks of the best death metal. New digipak edition is limited to numerated 2000 copies. - more on this story

Blowing Trees Debut

PR reports: San Antonio's Blowing Trees is scheduled to release their national self-titled debut on Glassnote Records March 18th, 2008. Discovered on Myspace by Glassnote A&R Executive Diane Passage, Blowing Trees signed with the label in early 2007. The yet to be released and highly anticipated indie-rock debut was recorded at San Antonio's Melody Ranch Studio under the direction of platinum producer Dave Castell (Blue October's Foiled and South FM).

Blowing Trees, comprised of lifelong friends Chris Maddin (vocals, keys, guitar), Edwin Stephens (lead guitar), Drew Pierce (drums), and bassist Roy Scavone, collectively possess a strong conviction in the belief that anything of lasting value needs a strong foundation from which to build. Rather than setting their focus on extensive touring, Blowing Trees chose to remain close to their Central Texas base allowing the band to fully concentrate on honing their distinctive sound as well as developing an intense live performance and dedicated local following. With influences ranging from The Flaming Lips to Bob Dylan, San Antonio's hidden gem has also managed to find that rare delicate balance of intelligent lyricism and an explosive sound.

Jason Reeves Joins Colbie Caillat Tour

PR reports: Unsigned singer/songwriter Jason Reeves will join Colbie Caillat for a month-long tour that kicks off April 10 and runs through May 2. The dates are part of Reeves' 30 city tour in support of his new release The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (and Other Frightening Tales), which is ranked as one of the top Folk albums on iTunes.

Reeves is best-known for co-writing Caillat's smash single "Bubbly," which has topped the Hot AC, AC and AAA Radio charts and went to #2 at Top 40. Reeves also co-wrote and sang on Caillat's new single, "Realize," currently one of the fastest rising songs on the Top 40 and Hot AC charts.

Jon McLaughlin Cashing In On Oscar Fame

PR reports: Jon McLaughlin's INDIANA, his first album for Island Records, posted an astonishing 1,514% increase in sales at Amazon overnight, to take over the #1 spot on the Movers & Shakers chart � an overwhelmingly positive reaction to his performance of his Oscar-nominated song "So Close" (from the Disney movie, Enchanted) at the 80th annual Academy Awards ceremonies, broadcast live on the ABC television network and viewed world�wide by over 24 million people.

Endless Bummer Screening

PR reports: On March 20, fans of surf, skate and music are invited to attend the ENDLESS BUMMER free screening event in Los Angeles to be among the first to see the film before it hits theaters later this summer.
