The performance sets the stage for a major sales and marketing re-launch of INDIANA on June 17, expanded to include "So Close" and Jon's new (non-album) single "Smack In To You." The track was written and produced by Tricky and The-Dream, the hitmakers responsible for Rihanna's "Umbrella," Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" and more. The new edition of INDIANA, in-store date to be announced in the weeks ahead, is also expected to include a number of B sides and live tracks. Meanwhile, "Smack In To You" is already being added online to digital versions of the album.
"Musically, the big winner of the night was Jon McLaughlin," wrote FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman in his Oscars coverage. "He sang one of the Enchanted songs. Talk about a break-out moment! That's a phenomenal voice McLaughlin could be the next big thing."
INDIANA (issued May 2007), the first major label album by American heartland singer-songwriter and pianist Jon McLaughlin, received maximum exposure on tours with Sara Bareilles last summer, Paolo Nutini in the fall, and then climaxing with Kelly Clarkson on her 24-city North American tour, October through December.
