SSS Tour and CD Update |
SSS bassist Mark Magill recently gave an update on the recording process of the band's as-yet-untitled upcoming new album:
"We just finished 3 days tracking drums for the new SSS album and it sounds bezerk. Dave pulled out all the stops and we got 30 tracks laid down. It's so much faster, heavier and harder than the first record and we can't wait to get it done and in your mits."

Theresa Andersson Sets Release For CD Recorded in Her Kitchen |
That's because the New Orleans singer-songwriter chose to approach her craft from different perspectives before she even began composing. Playing every instrument on the album with the help of a loop pedal, she took elements from her life and surroundings - her Swedish upbringing, New Orleans home, the locusts in her garden, the soda pop bottles in her kitchen - to create the uniquely beautiful tracks on Hummingbird, Go!.
Andersson's kitchen-turned-recording-studio is just another quirky addition to her DIY approach. "The kitchen sounds amazing, it has wonderful, natural reverb," Andersson explains. Even the room itself is audible, particularly on the vintage R&B of "Introducing the Kitchenettes." She recorded and, ultimately, finished the album in her kitchen creating sounds to match what she heard in her head.

Song for Ne'er Do Wells |
"In Canada, sometimes we musicians mock ourselves by noting that we are too famous for the subway--too poor for a cab. The song also recognizes that we don't choose as much about ourselves as we think we can.
"Much of who we are is encoded in our DNA and maybe we should accept that. The cult of self help lurks in the shadows but maybe serves to make us more unhappy?"

Swervedriver And Handsome Furs Members Cover Each Other |
Fans were searching for it. What happened to the "Shine A Light" Wolf Parade cover that was supposed to close the highly anticipated Adam Franklin debut Bolts of Melody? Adam had been closing shows with the song on tour and it was in the press releases for the record, but, upon release, it wasn't there. Did a recorded version exist?
Then, there it was, posted on myspace. A lush, intimate version of Shine A Light as only Adam Franklin could do it. But, 2 days later it was removed. "Could you put it back?" "Post the mp3?" One fan went so far as to ask whether Adam was too much of a rock star to take 30 seconds to personally send him the ascap-doesnt-want-labels-to-promote-their-artists-go-with-bmi-next-time. A slew of responses erupted on the blog.

Does Teddy Thompson Have What You Need? |
The first single, "In My Arms," is a fun poppy throwback, complete with handclaps and Farfisa organ. Thompson, known for his crisp, soothing voice and songwriting talent, picks up where he left off on his acclaimed 2006 sophomore album 'Separate Ways' with clever songcraft, good-natured but dark humor and moods from the cheerful to the melodramatic.
Teddy is the son of British folk icons Richard and Linda Thompson, and co-wrote Linda's most recent album, the acclaimed 'Versatile Heart.' He's collaborated with Martha and Rufus Wainwright, and his songs have been featured in the films 'Brokeback Mountain' and '40 Days And 40 Nights.'
