Bangkok Five Week: Day 4 "This One's For The Haters" |
Here is Frost with today's song "This One's For The Haters": Pretty much self explanatory, no? Haha! We come from a scene where a lot of the time it seems more important to look and act a certain way, than it does to ACTUALLY be able to play your instruments. Pro-tools has made it easy for people of questionable or limited talent to record successfully.
We purposefully wrote a complex, super fast, hard to play song, and then recorded it to tape where there is no faking it. Those hi-hat patterns Blanco is playing would normally be an overdub, because most drummers could never pull that off at that speed. The performance presented here is a completely live take.
The album hits stores next week but you can grab a taste right now, plus get the latest on the band and more

Johnny Rotten Beat Up Female Employee? |
According to a lawsuit filed moments ago in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Sex Pistol singer allegedly beat the crap out of a female assistant after calling her every horrible name in the book after the taping of a television show in 2007.
In the lawsuit, Roxane Davis claims Rotten, real name John Lydon, "cocked back his fist ... and punched her in the face" when the rocker was forced to stay in a room at the Ritz Carlton Hotel that didn't share a door with his other assistant ... a dude named Rambo.
Davis says both Rotten and Rambo unleashed a verbal tirade, calling her a "fat f**king c*nt, f**king c*nt, and fat f**king whore."

Jack White Pearl Jam? |
Asked whom he himself would like to jam with, McCready had one person in mind: "I'd love to have Jack White up. I just, I think he's just a phenomenal guitar player and I'd love to see him play up close.
"I've seen The White Stripes in Europe, but it was kind of far away. But I'd love to have him up there and jam because he's got a killer voice and he's a great lead player too. So that would be exciting to me."

YES Say No To 40th Anniversary Tour |
Yes frontman and founding member Jon Anderson was admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a severe asthma attack. He has now been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors this weekend that he needs to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. Upon receiving this news the band has determined that their tour plans need to be put on hold.
Said Jon Anderson, "In the wake of my recent respiratory attack, doctors have advised me to spend the coming months resting and recovering. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to tour with Yes this summer as originally planned. I'd like everyone know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events. I was looking forward to celebrating our music with the amazing family of Yes fans once again; but as we all know, health must come before anything else. Wishing you all the very best..."

Guitarist Death Ruled Overdose |
The autopsy, released June 3, attributed Costello's death to a combination of heroin, ephedrine, amphetamine and Librium, a prescribed anti-anxiety medication. The report also cited recent cocaine use. Costello was to have turned 29 years old on April 15, 2008.
The medical examiner who completed the autopsy, Dr. Geoffrey Smith, says that it is impossible to determine exactly which drug or drug interaction caused Costello's death, but it was most likely the result of the combination of the drugs in his system.

Feral Children Offer Free EP |
They will offer a free digital four-track EP, beginning today via Sarathan Records: The eponymous, abbreviated collection contains the songs - "Spy/Glass House," "Jaundice Giraffe," "Saint" and "Zyghost" - culled from the band's forthcoming album, Second to the Last Frontier, produced by Arcade Fire and Animal Collective audio wizard Scott Colburn, due July 8 on Sarathan.
Revered throughout the Pacific Northwest for their wild and sometimes reckless live shows, which typically end with something broken and someone bloodied, Feral Children is an appropriate name for this group of backwoods musicians who relocated to Seattle from the small Washington town of Maple Valley. It's this caustically wild performance that earned them an invite to perform at the Capitol Hill Block Party, July 26 in Seattle, joining Vampire Weekend, Darker My Love and Les Savy Fav. Prior to that, the fivesome will perform at the Noise for the Needy Benefit alongside Matt and Kim and YACHT at Seattle's Neumos on June 14.

Supergrass Is Back! We Didn't Know They Left |
After a dozen years, Supergrass (Gaz Coombes-Vocals & Guitar, Mick Quinn-Bass & Vocals, Danny Goffey-Drums & Vocals, Rob Coombes-Keyboard) have rolled back home, and rolled back the years, while marching firmly into the future. "We wanted a record where you got all of Supergrass," says frontman Gaz. "The joy, the intensity, the darkness, the melodies. All of those have always been important to us and still are." Hence Diamond Hoo Ha (release date: June 10th, 2008); an energetic album bristling with hooks to hang your coat off and melodies to lose your shoes to.
Recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin and produced by Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave, PiL, Gang Of Four), Diamond Hoo Ha is the band at their exuberant best. What other British band is still able, with seemingly effortless ease to conjure up songs and videos that crackle with breezy enthusiasm, humor and inventiveness?
