SiX Drown
PR reports: SiX have been added to the July 13th San Bernardino, California date of the Mayhem Festival featuring Slipknot and Disturbed. The band will be opening the Jagermeister stage performing alongside Machine Head, Five Finger Death Punch and 36 Crazyfists.

The band has announced that guitarist Duke Decter (Ex-Idols, Drown) will join the band to deliver a blistering set of songs off the new SiX album "Between The Warning and The War". The set will reunite Decter and SiX frontman Lauren Boquette for the first time since both were members of alt-metal group Drown and in support of the band's 1998 release "Product of A Two Faced World".

"It'll be great jamming with Duke again. He's an old friend, we've had a lot of great times together, we've made a lot of great music together and damn can that guy put away the whiskey!" laughs Boquette - more on this story

Dude! I Died. Dude!
PR reports: Jet Black Stare will release their major label debut, In This Life, July 15th. The album, a hard-rocking tour-de-force, is laden with arena-rock smashes like first single, "Ready To Roll," a pedal-to-the-metal anthem that will bring you charging down the drag strip and "It's Over," described as "the catchiest tune ever written about a cheating ex" as well as the epic tune "The River" and bluesy ballad "Fly."

At 19 years old Rod Black died. Four days later he was back in the emergency room, this time due to a near fatal car crash. It's no surprise that after not one, but two scrapes with the Reaper that Rod Black saw the light, and the reason for his life.

Music is that light, as is the band he fronts, Jet Black Stare. Shane Hayes (bass), Flip (guitar) and Dave Muselman (guitar), and Dan Swinimer (drums) round out the Vancouver, British Colombia group that has become a vessel for their frontman's life and death stories. - more on this story

XX Teens Welcome You To Goon Island
Mute reports: XX Teens will release their debut album "Welcome To Goon Island" on Mute September 30, 2008.

The 11-track album - produced by Sheffield's Ross Orton (MIA, Fat Truckers, Bromheads Jacket) - features the single "Darlin'" which will be available digitally (DATE [looks like the PR forgot to fill it in]).

"Welcome To Goon Island" is born from the great British Art School tradition, the core of the band having met at art school in Southend. Vivid and expansive, the album is political, innovative, and joyous it rumbles, rolls & swings coming to an end with the swirling psychedelia of "Sun Comes Up" and a moving eulogy from British peace activist Brian Haw. (Food for though: If they had added just one more X to their name, imagine how many google hits they would enjoyed!) - more on this story

'Beautiful Mess'; the band's ninth studio album [in case missed that in the first paragraph when it was mentioned], evokes a more intimate, jazzy sound.

Corinne Drewery's voice has a more mature timbre, supported by Andy Connell's unusually restrained, rhythm-heavy backdrop, yet still interwoven with their signature string and vocal arrangements. - more on this story

Ha Ha Tonkapalooza

The Gabe Dixon Band Sets Release
PR reports: Who turns down a personal offer to play keyboard on Paul McCartney's world tour? Gabe Dixon did, and it was probably the best decision of his life. Dixon respectfully turned McCartney down to focus his energies on his band's then-yet-to-be-released album.

The first incarnation of The Gabe Dixon Band was born nine years ago as a jam band with heavy jazz influences, but after a bout of cutbacks and regime changes at their original label, the band members had a collective epiphany and decided to reinvent themselves as a song-based trio. A reviewer for The Nashville Tennessean, Dixon's hometown paper, called it early in 2005 when he stated unequivocally that the young artist "deserves to join the ranks of Jackson Browne and early Elton John in the pop pantheon."

The Gabe Dixon Band cut their self-titled album, due out on August 26th, live at Nashville's renowned Blackbird Studios with co-producer/ engineer mixer Neal Cappelino (Alison Krauss, Mindy Smith, Jonny Lang). - more on this story

. Less Than Jake - GNV FLA
GNV FLA marks a total return to form for Less Than Jake, it's a portrait of their former selves.
