Label Blames Axl for Weak GNR Sales? |
But they lost out to The Killers' Day & Age in Sunday's UK album chart rundown -- with Brandon Flowers' group notching up sales of 200,000 during the week -- 80,000 more than Guns N' Roses.
Bosses at label Geffen [reportedly] are blaming unpredictable Axl for the disappointing sales after he went AWOL for two months before the release date. Despite all the effort put into one of the most extravagant rock albums of all time, staff could not contact Axl to get him to promote his rock epic.

Band Vs Semi Truck, Truck Wins |
After a great show at the Triple Rock we left for Omaha on Sunday morning and passed about 25 cars that had spun out of control from frozen roads and high winds. One lady, 100 yards in front of us, lost control of her car and spun into the median almost taking out the car in the left lane next to her. The weather got better the closer we got to Omaha after passing through Des Moines, but about 15 miles out from Omaha we ran out of gas.
Adam grabbed his Sector 9 and took off to fill a can of gas at an exit that was literally 300 yards in front of us. I got out to piss. I was about 100 feet in front of the van and I turned to walk back and I saw a semi barrelling down the highway and I could tell it was a little too far to the right in the right lane. It ended up blasting the left tire off the side of our trailer and bounced the fender along the side of our van. Long story short, we did not make it to the show.

Metallica Eye Two More Years of Touring |
And in typical Ulrich fashion, he's talking about boldly going where no band has ever gone before (speaking of 'treks').
"We're booked up through August of next year, and right now we're sort of laying out fall of '09 and the spring of '10," Ulrich tells Rolling Stone. "We're waiting for a few other countries to be actually formalized as nations so we can be the first band in. We're also waiting for the polar caps to stabilize so we can go play there. There's talk about some other planets too."
