Billy Morrison Week: Day 4 "L.I.V." |
When we heard about this album finally being released, we fired off an email to ask Billy to give us the lowdown on some of his favorite tracks. A few hours later he came through in a big way. So here is Billy to discuss his favorite tracks from Stimulator!
L.I.V.: No. It isn't a song about Liv Tyler! Its an acronym for something (that will remain nameless!). The song is about prostitution and a couple of people that I knew a few years ago. Its a really sad, shallow life, and I was around the whole scene for a while, watching these girls lose their soul and their respect for a hit on the crack pipe. Its absolutely incredible what we, as human beings, will do when we are in need of something. I lived with one of these girls for about a year and the emotional turmoil that the situation created became the basis for this track, a few years later (once I had crawled my way out of my own pit!!) ..."you stand alone, and full of hate. you close your eyes to fornicate"....how the f**k did I get the word 'fornicate' to sit in a song like that?!!
The CD is out now digitally on iTunes and limited edition hard copy CD is available exclusively from

Mariah Carries The Charts |
Back in February Jack Jackson set the first week sales record with sales of 375,000 copies of his latest "Sleep Through the Static." While it was a big high this past week for Mariah, last week's No 1 took a 54% nosedive. Leona Lewis' "Spirit" dropped to No 2 with sales of 95,000 copies this past week.
Tween fever is still high as the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert sold 47,000 units to snag the No 3 spot. Lady Antebellum wasn't far behind with sales of 43,000 to claim No 4. Now 27 rounded out the top 5 with 39,000 units sold. So in other words, the charts weren't very rockin' this week as the fans got popped instead.
Nine Inch Mystery |
The track is available as a free download at http://dl.nin.com/discipline/nin and is also available on the bands remix site. http://remix.nin.com/
The band's website was also updated yesterday with the message "Two Weeks", creating speculation that the band may release yet another album soon. [our guess is it has to do with the new Guns N' Roses album. Robin is in both groups after all. Maybe they'll team up for a tour? See what kind of rumors can start by these cryptic messages!]

Yoko Vs Ben Stein |
According to Reuters, Yoko has teamed up with Lennon's sons to file suit against the producers of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" because they used Lennon's song "Imagine" in the film. The documentary film deals with academic and scientific discrimination from Darwinists against intelligent designers.
The filmmakers claim that the fair use doctrine comes into play since they were using the Lennon track for commentary. "We are disappointed therefore that Yoko Ono and others have decided to challenge our free speech right to comment on the song 'Imagine' in our documentary film," they said in a statement.

Miley Cyrus' Memoirs of a Tween Pop Tart |
Well, all of us except Miley Cyrus and the Disney Book Group, because it's been announced that the Miley Cyrus memoirs are coming out soon. We're especially looking forward to the chapter about how, by the age of 12, Miley Cyrus had more money than all of us would ever earn from a lifetime of backbreaking physical labour combined. Fun!
"I am so excited to let fans in on how important my relationship with my family is to me," said Cyrus. She said she hoped "to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams."

More on Weiland's Stoned Temple Exit From Velvet Revolver |
The guitarist discussed VELVET REVOLVER's split with singer Scott Weiland: "We had gotten to that point where we were resigned to the fact that we weren't going to be working with Scott anymore, even before we left for the last leg of the tour," says Slash. "So when he said all that stuff onstage [at a gig in Scotland Weiland announced to fans that they were witnessing the group's last tour] we were sort of surprised. Because we had no intention of breaking the band up. It might have been the last show for him, but it wasn't the last show for Velvet Revolver."
On the fact that Weiland released a statement alleging "certain individuals" were singing along with him onstage: "Scott was under the impression that our drum tech was singing during the set, which was why he walked offstage at that show. We convinced him that wasn't happening, but then the next night he said that Matt [Sorum] was doing it. He was firmly convinced that was happening, which it wasn't."

Billy Joel Revisits The Stranger |
Originally released in September 1977, Billy Joel's fifth studio album, "The Stranger," marked the first of Joel's highly successful collaborations with producer Phil Ramone, whose mastery of the recording studio provided a sublime sonic context for Joel's timeless songs and classic performances. "I was very happy that we chose Phil Ramone," said Billy Joel in a recent interview for the 30th Anniversary edition of "The Stranger." "He got it right away."
The resulting collection became one of the top-selling albums of the year (peaking at #2 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart); won two Grammys (Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Just The Way You Are," "The Stranger" was nominated for Album of the Year); overtook Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as Columbia Records Top Selling Album of the time, and generated four indelible singles -- "Just The Way You Are (#1 Adult Contemporary, #3 Pop Singles); "Only The Good Die Young" (#24 Pop Singles); "She's Always A Woman" (#2 Adult Contemporary, #17 Pop Singles); and "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" (#17 Pop Singles) -- that remain radio staples to this day. The Stranger" has earned the coveted RIAA Diamond Album certification (presented in recognition of US sales of more than 10 million copies).
