Zeppelin To Announce Reunion Wed? |
It may just be a case of reading a lot more into things then are really there but Billboard issued a report that a date posted on Ledzeppelin.com may have something to with the reunion rumors. They also are the only ones reporting that Led Zeppelin are going to hold a press conference on Wednesday in London and hinted that it might have something to do with the reunion rumors swirling around the band. As if that wasn't enough fuel for the fire, they also report that the band was spotted touring the O2 arena (the rumored site of the reunion) during recent a Prince show at the venue.
If you visit Ledzeppelin.com you will now be greeted with four member symbols made famous on the Led Zeppelin IV album cover but directly beneath the symbols 11.13.07 is printed. This may or may not have anything to do with a reunion as that is the date that "Mothership," the new 24 track compilation album will be released by Atlantic/Rhino.- more on this story

Kanye Vs 50 Cent on TV |
AP has the report: Like candidates trying to sway voters on Election Day, Kanye West and 50 Cent will appear on BET's "106 & Park" on Tuesday, when both their heavily anticipated albums hit the stores. West and 50 Cent have hyped the albums as an epic battle of rap titans 50 Cent has said he'd retire if West's "Graduation" outsells his "Curtis" CD in their first week out.
BET is treating the Tuesday-evening event like a top heavyweight fight, even borrowing Stuart Scott from ESPN to deliver a statistical breakdown of the two rappers. Both are set to perform, but whether they will engage in a rap battle remains to be seen.- more on this story
Foxy Brown Gets A Year in Jail |
Contact Music reports: The 28-year-old was told by a New York judge that she had acted as if her celebrity status placed her above the law. Brown real name Inga Marchand was found to have missed anger management classes and failed to have stayed out of trouble since assaulting two nail salon stylists three years ago
At a hearing last month, Judge Melissa Jackson jailed the singer until yesterday's court appearance, and the rapper told the court: "Being in jail humbled me in a way I never imagined. I realise that this is not where I want to be." But Judge Jackson countered that her apology came as "too little, too late".- more on this story
CMJ Vs Indie Fest |
The unCMJfest is now the un C. em J. Music Fest. But their mission statement remains the same: Who needs "style guilds" of "music journalists" taking money from the musicians to rent space and then sell advertising for a profit???!
The unCMJ Music Fest is about music, not marketing opportunities. A large portion of the event aims to be ALL AGES (unlike CMJ). It is scheduled to take place on October 19th and 20th in Williamsburg, Bushwick, and Greenpoint, Brooklyn.- more on this story including the love letter
U2 PopMart DVD |
Described as a sci-fi disco supermarket, the PopMart Tour opened in its "spiritual home", Las Vegas on 25th April 1997. All trash and kitsch, PopMart introduced a giant mirrorball lemon, a 100ft cocktail stick - complete with olive, and the works of Lichtenstein, Warhol and Haring, to a live rock audience: a production experience never quite seen before.
Originally filmed on analogue video, the film has been transferred to a digital format with re-graded and cleaned pictures. Great care has been taken to maintain the original look by simply enhancing it, with an added degree of sharpness and contrast unavailable when originally filmed. The audio has also been re-mastered and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound.
PopMart Live from Mexico City will be available in two formats: a Standard 1-disc format containing the concert, and a Special Limited Edition 2-disc format- more info on that and complete track info

Maynard's Cuntry Boner |
Puscifer is Maynard's multifaceted, multimedia, multi-artist, multi-personality project. It involves film, music, digital video, garments, feminine hygiene products, coffee, pet supplies, websites, blogs, artist collaborations, a few office supplies, and a grip on the idea that chaos is good and that change is inevitable. Just a few of the artists who have passed through these confusing gates: Mat Mitchell, Tim Alexander, Lei Li, Jonny Polonsky, Cherie Roberts, Ainjel Emme, Brandon Bryant, Danny Lohner, Josh Eustis, Gil and Rani Sharone, Lustmord, Laura Milligan, Meats Meier, Evil Joe Barresi, Trey Gunn, Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Tim Cadiente, Ford Englerth, Jeffrey Brooks, Micah, Alan Moulder, Eddie McClintock, Joe Nagy, Nipples Creelman, Devo. The list goes on.
So why this new project? Dare we ask? "I'm on a mission. I've been assigned to be the guardian of a highly classified, highly effective Sonic Weapon of Mass Disruption. This sonic technology when 'unleashed,' if you will, causes parts of the anatomy to vibrate uncontrollably. Not unlike when someone yawns, everyone in the surrounding area will be affected. If executed properly, the subjects will be temporarily distracted from their duties. Their bodies will appear to be abducted by the Soul Train, as if J-Lo were auditioning for the 'Thriller' video. Awe inspiring. Don't speak a word of it." Check out a video for Puscifer "c***ry boner" that Maynard put together as well- right here
Radiohead Finish New CD |
Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood says that the band is considering their options at the moment so no firm release date or guess at one is available at the moment. They finished their contract with EMI with the release of 'Hail To The Thief' in 2003 and opted not to renew their deal with the music giant.
"We just had a meeting about that today," Greenwood told Paste Magazine last week. "We're very relieved to have finished recording, now we have to decide what we should do with it."-

Britney's Comeback Bombs |
We here at the Day in Rock didn't tune in since what they try to pass off as music there seldom lives up to the name unless you are a fan of autotune, over production and insipid lyrics, so we can't give you a first hand account but a reporter from AP was able to stomach the show and reports that Britney was in bottom form and "looked bleary and unprepared.'
The AP roast goes further than that. Here is a little taste, "She lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching; and, perhaps most unforgivable given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape."- Read the full AP report
MMM I Like That Song, Who Is it By? |
Billboard reports: Listeners tuning in to Chicago alternative rock station WKQX (Q101) on August 9 heard a catchy, guitar-driven track called "The Great Divide," followed by an announcement that the song was produced by a "mystery artist." It quickly became the most-requested song on the station and was put into power rotation by the programming department.
After three weeks of speculation, a DJ finally revealed the secret: The band behind the alt-rock hit was none other than Hanson, a trio of brothers best known for their pop-rock song "MMMBop," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1997.- more on this story
