UK Arena Madness

Gigwise reports: Madness have announced a UK arena tour which kicks of in Aberdeen on December 6th. 

The seven date tour will also include shows in Belfast (December 7th) and Cardiff (December 10th) before concluding at the O2 Arena in London on December 14th. 

The tour will feature the outfit's full line-up and the group are expected to preview material off their new album, reportedly entitled, 'LUCKY7,' on the tour.- more on this story

Sanctuary Records RIP

BBC reports: Sanctuary Records' UK recorded music business is to be closed as it focuses on its more profitable management arm. 

The decision was made by the firm's new owner Universal, which bought Sanctuary last month for £44.5m. 

The closing business is home to artists including The Charlatans, Morrissey, Kelly Osbourne and Marc Almond. [Belly O's megaseller probably helped grow that bottom line!]- more on this story

Black Francis Bluefinger

PR reports: The Pixies' iconic lead singer Frank Black dons his decades-old moniker - Black Francis - and, imbued by the spirit of eccentric Dutch painter/musician Herman Brood, recorded a brand new set of 11 songs, collectively titled "Bluefinger," that is set for a September 11 release on Cooking Vinyl.

"I privately went back to the old stage name, if that even makes any sense, almost as a joke," explains Black Francis. "I couldn't get The Pixies back into a studio, but I would transform into my alter ego of yesteryear. 

I spoke the magic syllables aloud and nothing happened; just as I thought. Soon after, my new manager asked me for a bonus track for a "best of" compilation to be released later in the year. And as I prepared for the session, I became (honestly) gripped by the spirit of Herman Brood, and my bonus track expanded into an 11 song record called BLUEFINGER in just a few days. Thank you Herman. You were at the distant edge of my vision for years when suddenly I was under your influence like a cloud of opium, like the scent of the house of the rising sun. Bliss. Bliss. Bliss. 

I had spoken the magical name and nothing had happened, but I was impatient, and like so many people, I thought the magic would reveal itself in an instant, as depicted in films. Magic is more subtle. And Herman Brood did turn me back into BLACK FRANCIS. Funny how things work out. You just never know."- more on this story

Superdrag Limited Edition

PR reports: Superdrag will be releasing a limited edition, double CD entitled "4-Track Rock !!! 1992-1995 + Complete "Bender" Sessions" which will be exclusively available at shows when the reunited original lineup is back on tour this Fall. 

Superdrag is also adding another Knoxville performance on October 19, after selling out the October 20 performance at Barley's Tap Room. Tickets will be available for the Oct. 19 Knoxville show on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 1 PM EST at superdrag.ducatking.com

Superdrag will also be kicking off the Midwest's only independent music festival MidPoint Music Festival in Cincinnati on September 27th in addition to John Davis being tapped as its 2007 Artist Keynote speaker for the event.- more on this story

Ghouls on Parade Tour

PR reports: The NYC-based four-piece Trashlight Vision, fresh off a U.K. tour swing, will be heading out to begin their U.S. tour run in September. Following a headlining date in New York City, TLV will take part in the Ghouls on Parade Tour, which also features Wednesday13, Antiproduct and Creature Feature, and is slated to visit seventeen markets in October. 

Trashlight Vision will be touring in support of their new album, "Alibis and Ammunition," which was released on Rock Ridge Music on July 10th. The album features 12 tracks of turbo-charged rock that is both uncompromising and in-your-face. 

Formed in 2004 by former Murderdolls member Acey Slade, the band sports a Guns 'n' Roses-meets-the-Misfits vibe proudly on its tattooed sleeve, and they are driven to bring New York City-style punk rock back to the forefront.- more on this story

Kid Rock Goes from Cowboy to Rock n Roll Jesus

PR reports: As far as Kid Rock is concerned, October 9th can't get here soon enough. America's "Devil Without A Cause" will turn more than a few heads with his new studio album, "ROCK N ROLL JESUS." Recorded at his Clarkston Chophouse studio in Clarkston, MI, the album was produced by Kid Rock and Rob Cavallo, and sees Rock backed by his long-time Twisted Brown Trucker band, with additional vocals by the Fisk Jubilee Singers. 

Easily the artist's most provocative work to date, the album tackles themes such as race relations, religion in America, and, of course, sex. The album's first single, "So Hott," is racing up the rock radio charts, already hitting the Top 10 with the loving sentiment, "I want to f**k you like I'm never going to see you again." Have an iTune with your Tall Mocha

PR reports: Apple and Starbucks today announced an exclusive partnership that lets customers wirelessly browse, search for, preview, buy and download music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store at Starbucks onto their iPod touch, iPhone or PC or Mac running iTunes while at a participating location. 

When a customer enters a participating location, their device will automatically recognize the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store using a high-speed Wi-Fi wireless network with no connection fee or hotspot login. Customers will be able to browse, search and freely preview millions of songs, including a new "Now Playing" service which displays the name of the song playing in the Starbucks store at that moment, then easily buy and download songs or albums directly to their device. Prices and selection on the Tunes Wi-Fi Music Store are the same as on the regular iTunes Store. The service will make its debut at more than 600 Starbucks company-operated locations in New York and Seattle on October 2.- more on this story

Alberta Cross Bridge US roots with UK rock

Alberta Cross' debut The Thief and Heartbreaker" hits stores next Tuesday with the promise "They're not trying to be different, they just ARE different." "The Thief & The Heartbreaker" is Alberta Cross' self-produced debut, a collection of 7 heart-broke tales that sound as fresh as they do timeless, while introducing us to the arrestingly plaintive and distinctive vocals of Petter Ericson Stakee and an accomplished band completed by Terry Wolfers, Petter's brother John Alexander Ericson (a solo artist in his own right) on organ and Seb Sternberg on drums.

Band Against MS

PR reports: Platinum recording artist, Clay Walker recently enlisted some of country music's biggest stars to help battle against Multiple Sclerosis. Walker's non-profit charity, Band Against MS has partnered with the Washington D.C. metropolitan area Chapter of the National MS Society by offering an autographed guitar for auction at the Society's Annual Ambassadors Ball on September 19 in the nation's capital. 

The Taylor model 210-E guitar bedecked with the authentic signatures of Walker, Alan Jackson, Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and George Strait is one of several items included in the auction. Proceeds from the sale of the instrument will be divided between the National Capital Chapter of the National MS Society and Band Against MS. 

"Band Against MS is thrilled to continue our partnership with the National MS Society" says the charity's Director, Kyle Frederick. "We are sincerely grateful for the good work they do and for the individuals, groups and businesses that support our ongoing effort to fund research and education. VMA Weekend Details

Nat "King" Cole Reissue Series

PR reports: Collectors' Choice is proud to have been selected by Nat's daughter Carole and the Nat Cole Estate to release essentially Nat's entire Capitol album output on CD, some of which will be appearing on Compact Disc for the first time in the U. S. and others which will be appearing in that format for the first time anywhere. Faced with such a weighty responsibility (some of these titles have never come out on CD, many more never here in America), Collector's Choice set out to release these wonderful records in a fashion that would bring value to the consumer, and yet remain true to their towering artistic integrity. The label decided to release the albums in two waves. The first wave will consist of nine twofers; these are albums whose common theme or arranger made them perfect matches for each other.
